How to Sell an Xbox 360 in Japan

I guess all things in Japan are just beyond our scope of understanding. Don't misconstrue what I said. I love everything Japanese. I find it intriguingly unique and fascinatingly captivating. However this commercial by famous Japanese band Tokio, although a very typical ad, would have been effective hadn't it been trying to sell a game console. And a damn serious console at that. A song entitled "do! do! do!" isn't helping this commercial one bit.

As a viewer, I would have preferred them actually playing with the product with an actual game or something like a comic skit, to keep the fangirls gushing. This Xbox 360 ad for the 2006 World Cup could be a very good role model for future Japanese XBox 360 ads. Maybe sales will pick up.

No wonder it's not selling

I can imagine a bunch of Tokio fangirls lining up to get a brand new Xbox360... Yeah right.

To sell to males, you gotta use sex appeal and hot chicks, not boy bands.

» 360 is not for the rest of the world

360 will only be popular in america, since its so american made. Every other country in the rest of the world hates all things american. I'm sure the advertising companies are making a joke out of this system intentionaly. Pretty much to them its like, "Just take this american box thing or what ever it is and try to sell it, no one will buy it anyways, those damn ignorant americans think they, and everything they make is so much better than everyone and everything else".

The japanese consoles will dominate the rest of the world no matter how hard americans try to advertise their crap. They are better off trying to sell Harley Davidson motorcycles, and red flyer wagons in japan than the 360.

apairently you guyz dont understand that each cultor is diff. japanese or asians in generals adds are off the wall. i lived in the phillipines for a few years and i got a lot of adds from diff parts of the world and the ones that where of asian decent where off the chain

and i know ms or any other country is going to do there research before doing an add. like sony and nintendo, they are a japanese company, but there adds are targeted to that country the adds you get in europe is not going to be the same for australia or us

Microsoft is trying so hard. Nothing is coming for them from Japan. That isn't going to boost sales. Microsoft should stop wasting money on the Japapnese market and concentrate on America, even though they are going to lose here too when the PS3 comes in November. I smell another gaming generation dominated by Sony.

those games will not do sh*t, the same thing was said before ninty nine nights was realease but did it help sales? nope. lost odyssey might move some systems but it wouldn't be that noticable.
