Ó

If the name Rube Goldberg doesn't ring any bells for you, he is one of the most famous cartoonists in history who earned lasting fame for his "Rube Goldberg machines" which are exceedingly complex devices that perform simple tasks in very indirect and convoluted ways. A good example of a Rube Goldberg Machine is this Ramen cooking contraption from the Land of The Rising Sun (and weird gadgets), Japan.

Here's another Rube Goldberg device, which was made with the help of Garry's Mod for Half-Life 2. Garry's Mod, also known as GMod, allows the player to manipulate objects that often yields interesting results thanks to the game's Havok physics engine. This includes any object that has physical properties, ranging from cinder blocks and seagulls to decrepit automobiles and washing machines and much more. The construction of complex machines within the game could be said to be a contemporary spin on the Rube Goldberg machine principle. So with that, check out the Rube Goldberg Machine, HL2 Style.
