Xbox 360 Games for Change Challenge - Image 1

You know what, there's really a cool way that video games can be used to catalyze social change, especially with our worsening problem with global warming. Microsoft just teamed up with the organization Games for Change (G4C) to do just that. It was announced during the fourth annual Games for Change Festival at Parsons The New School for Design in New York.

Accordingly, a video game design competition will be held this summer for participants in more than 100 countries. It's open to all college students, and the objective is to come up with games based on the theme of global warming using XNA Game Studio Express.

The winners will receive cash prizes which can be used to further the winners' education. Quite interestingly, the winners will also be invited by Microsoft to present their games to the MS Games Management team for possible inclusion as a download in the Xbox Live Arcade service.

The overall winner will be invited to have an apprenticeship with Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business as part of its internship program.

No there is global warming but i am very sceptical about human caused global warming from the information and the evidence I have seen there seems be nothing conclusive enough to push me into a full belief in human causes. Unfortunately the planet is full of people like you who are not going to be sceptical on the matter and hence forth another religion is born where you believe what youre told and beat anyone into the ground who apposes you. Please act with a little more intelligence next time and question my motives instead of making yourself look like 1 brain cell 'dumbass'.

Just because the temperature is rising doesnt mean humans are responsible. Isnt there 7 recorded ice ages or something like that so it is stupid to think that the temperature is never going to change again the only thing these global warming evangelists can say is that the planet is warming faster than we assume it should be doing which is a bit thin on the ground to base their urgent need to change the way everyone on the planet acts towards evrthing from not using deodorant cans to less revs in your car, i need a lot more convincing. But here is a prime example of a big company trying to give itself a better name by waving there banner around to say "look everyone we care too!". its pathetic

i dont see how this contest is helping

great, college students challenge each other...they win money...how is that helping save the world? if their trying to get ppl to fight pollution...all i got to say is captain planet failed at trying to change our ideas on the world, why would this do better? anyway feel free to point out what their doing to help the world...because making games about serious matters doesnt help anything but fatten the wallets of companys

Man equals Global Warming

Yeaaa, because its something other than humans than like to dig up fossil fuels and naturally form miles UNDER the earth and set them on fire so they end up in our atmosphere instead. Its not humans because I see billions of cows driving around in pollution spewing gas guzzlers on a daily basis for 80% of their lifetimes. Its not the humans cutting down large plots of forrests so that the ever increasing carbon emitions cant be recycled into oxygen, blame the beavers and their wretched dams! Seriously though, if you think its some other cause besides mankind then youre just dumb. This planet would be a lot better off without us destroying it and throwing buildings and all sorts of other crap up on it. You guys need to get a reality check and go watch An Inconvienient Truth or something. Knowledge is power...
