Halo: Reach details: Load outs, armor lock, active camo, more

Bungie has let out a massive dose of Halo: Reach info in their latest weekly update. Among the things covered are Load Outs, jet packs, and changes made to vehicles and weapons.

 

Here's a quick run through of just some of the things detailed in the update:

 

  • Load Out - lets you to choose your Armor Ability, your starting primary and secondary weapons, and your grenade cache at the beginning of each match or round. These aren't player-defined but rather playlist and/or game type specific.
  • Armor Lock - gives you a burst of invulnerability but makes you immobile. You can click once to briefly engage it, or hold it for a longer lasting effect. Looks pretty damn badass too.
  • Active Camo - grants Spartans and Elites alike temporary invisibility. The faster you move, the more visible you become and the shorter the duration of the effect will be. If you want to make the most of it, stand still or move slowly.

I can imagine it turning most close-range fights into deadlocks, though, as both players just stand still, shooting each other, waiting for the opponent's Armor Lock to end.

Not too sure about Armour lock. Sounds pretty shite unless you can still be assassinated.

Um, well they said the gun choosing isn't player specifc rather, game type specific. Like it ALREADY is in Halo 3 multiplayer. They're just listing things that are coming back. Just like the active camo. The only thing new here is the jetpacks and the reason its not like regular Halo that you know is because the Spartan troup. If you know the story you'll know that they had jetpacks because it helped them stay together as a group whether it be in the sky or not. Not to mention the fact that you're more tactile and able to reach more places.

I always found Halo one of the most formulaic lacking in imagination FPS game series i ever played, i mean i played them all but never more than once, i'm just glad they planning something new this time because all the fanboys saying they don't want it to change are just being short sighted and holding back progress.
