HaloThere was a spot of worry when it was reported that Fox and Universal were dropping out of their deal with Microsoft for the planned Halo movie, but things are starting to look brighter.

Microsoft has been shopping around for other studios that will handle the big-screen adaptation of Halo, and they are reportedly setting their sights on Warner Bros. and Paramount. Of course, since this is Microsoft we're talking about here, Sony is obviously not in the running because of the PS3.

Disney, meanwhile, is reportedly "iffy" due to Steve Jobs' involvement, and New Line is still working through legal problems related to Lord of the Rings with Halo producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh.

I guess all of these "relationship issues" is why a movie script can stay in limbo for long periods of time. Maybe Microsoft really should go and make the movie on their own if they really want to put it out there. High risk, yes, but the gains would also be pretty high.

Oh, and speaking of scripts, the one for the Halo movie has undergone some rewrites. Alex Garland's original script has been rewritten by "Ender's Game" writer D.B. Weiss, and is reportedly set to undergo another rewrite by Josh Olsen, the screenwriter of "A History of Violence."
