haloHalo fans will just have to wait a little longer before they can watch the movie adaptation of the popular Xbox game. It was scheduled for release in 2007, but has been pushed back a year. It was kinda expected considering that the producers have yet to name a director.

Doing a quick search on Internet Movie Database (imdb) confirmed that it is indeed delayed until 2008. No reason for panic as Peter Jackson still stands as the executive producer.

Movie plot outline: After they crash-land on an artificial ring-world called "Halo", a marine captain, his surviving marines, and a genetically-and-surgically-enhanced supersoldier called "Master Chief" must find out what the Covenant, the genocidal alien race they are at war with, are looking for on the ring. However, Halo holds more secrets than either side imagined...

» Yeah

If this is true, Bungie will confirm it.

» IMDB

Well, I don't think someone would make a delay up, but it would make sense... But the point is, IMDB is as accurate as submitters make it, and that means is often incorrect.

» Guillermo del Toro is directing Halo

Peter Jackson wants Guillermo del Toro to direct, but Guillermo wants to to Hellboy 2 first, that's probably the reason for the delay. Here's a link confirming Del Toro as the director: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=17689

He's also confirmed he's directing in other interviews.

» No

That interview was conducted before he decided he wanted to make Hellboy 2 first. As of now, the Halo movie has no (confirmed) director. From the Bungie update from April 07, 2006:

'"halo2fan05732 asks,

Any idea for a Director for the film yet?

How many other Halo books are planned on being released in the future?"

"No announcement on a director yet, and remember that the information on IMDB is submitted by the public, in a Wikipedia fashion. There are at least one and possibly three Halo books to look forward to in the future. Eric Nylund's next is well under way, and "Ghosts of Coral" is the working, not the final title."'

» Oh

And before anyone decides to be stupid and ask, "we'll, maybe they have decided on a director now? It has been more than a month", Bungie does these updates weekly, and none of the ones after April 07 has even used the word director.

Why do I have a feeling that the movie is going to be incredibly lame and packed with stupid one liners like Doom.

» well

» heh

i know why jackson will not roduse it, he's a hack. if it is not a movie that he stole the idea for then he can't do it.

it can't be an original script. he is just a ripoff of other people good ideas that came before.

he wants someone else to be the director so if it bombs he can say it wasn't his fault.

» Reasonable Estimate

I'm on that IMDB board. There's almost no way this is coming out in 2007. They just, JUST announced a director, the haven't even casted it yet.

True, IMDB is only as accurate as fans can estimate, and as far as I know there's not offical delay yet, but thinking reasonably, I would be astounded if this film could make December 2007, there's no way it's going to make Summer '07.
