Many have complained about Halo 3's lackluster graphics as shown during the beta. It's far from terrible, but nothing that would put players into gaming high. Frank O'Connor remains positive, saying "Well to be honest, we've seen them [the graphics] praised too."Performance over aesthetics, says O'Connor. That isn't to say Halo 3 would look dated; they're pushing Xbox 360 to the limit in order to deliver a smooth multi-player experience. To make up for it, O'Connor believes that the single player mode would bring out the eye-candy and show what next-gen graphics are all about.
From his words, it's very feasible that single player will be more extensive this time around. "I think it's safe to say there will be lots of visual surprises in Campaign and a few nifty graphical improvements in multiplayer." Nifty improvements? Let's just hope this is more than brighter vehicles and flashier weapon effects. After all, Halo 3 is supposed to bring Microsoft's gaming division some dough.

the reason is the graphics don't have direct X 10 .....hahahahah. A lame port of it. the pc version will be capable of sharpen and smooth the graphics duhh. i bet ya it will scracth hahahahah. I mean I think the way it looks now is fine. How offen in a MP game do you have a moment when you are wandering along a nice looking beach admiring the look of the thing? Not very often (unless your walking around trying to find something to complain about coz your bored).
MP games are fast paced, non stop from start to finish with not much time to look around but the single player on the other hand has plenty of chances to look around in between fights. I think the MP needs to play well and the single player needs to have a good mood and good graphics.
It would be neat if the replays had an option to set the tone (dark and gloomy/sunny etc.) and some extra graphical tweeks that arnt there when your playing though.
Just my two cents.
What you say may be true, but it's nice to be able to have both. Also if it looks a bit poor then all we'll hear is single minded PS3 owners bleating on about the graphics cos thats all they ever mention.

BTW there won't be a PC version of Halo 3 for a couple years down the line, so why are you even mentioning a PC version?

It's obvious that they are leaving out graphical elements in order to improve multiplayer performance....
It took me over 2 weeks to notice that bullets do not leave marks on walls....but that's a testament to how little it matter (i'm a whore when it comes to details) and also to how they want to smooth out the gameplay.....ever bullet mark left on a wall has to be sent to every player so they see it as well...if you don't have them, it improves online performance......good choice if you ask me...
It also allows for many more objects in the "world"....there have been many instances of mass killing in one spot, yet the 30+ grenades are still strewn about the area, and you can go nuts just moving around in that area and hitting the nade trigger....just tossing them randomly for alot of explosions....it's not tactically sound, but damned fun....
Dosent matter to me anyway, i already pre-ordered in full so i'm getting it no matter what. Cant wait to put my spartan helmet on my cat.

halo 3 looks like ***** and i dont buy that they cant have both good multiplayer and good graphics, i mean gears of war has both and as it stands is better than halo 3 ???

Ok well to stay on the main topic here. I have a couple of points to point out, console pissing aside. One, how much of a graphical up grade do people really want? a lot of it is going to come down to little details and stuff it's never going to look like GOW, cause they aren't using epic's unreal engine. Two it's a beta NOT the actual game, everyone knows alot of stuff is going to change. Three and last but not least is that bungie has only given us a taste in order to make sure their network is going to be able to handle the pressure and so they can iron out things like the "day one crackdown issue." lastly back to the tast test thing I think bungie has a lot of suprises in store for us. I hope that they do have a graphical overhaul for the multiplayer on par with the single player campaign. I can't wait till september 25th. woot!
I expect to see a graphical improvement, at least I'm hoping for one. At its current state, the Halo 3 Beta just looks like a pretty Halo 2. The environments are a little too "blocky." I understand the concern with particle count when in multiplayer battles (such as button holes and such), but improving texture quality in the environments would not affect network performance (since these textures don't change depending on gameplay; they are simply loaded from the disc). If they can improve that much, I'll be satisfied. Either way, I'll still buy the game; the improvements in gameplay are worth it.
didnt the very first halo 3 trailer use the actual halo 3 game engine?because i remember i read in mi magazine that after the trailer bungie behind closed curtains took control of master cheif and shot his assault rifle to show off the graphics!so if thats what the graphics for campain looked like at an early stage then they'll probably be ALOT better when da game releases!!!nd i agree that MP graphics dont matter as much as campain but MP cud still use some improvements in the graphics
I used to be an xbox360 fanboy, I would have flamed back at the sony fan boys bagging all that I cared about on the xbox. You know what though after my xbox360 failed on me two weeks after the spring update (after a big session of Crackdown), I'm inclined to side with anyone backing sony. Microsoft have failed to deliver anything decent this time around, the 360 was meant to be better then the xbox1, my xbox1 still works fine. I treated my 360 like it was gold, it was always well ventilated and everything. Having the tech support insinuate that I hadn't treated the console properly and that's why I got 3 red lights of death was beyond insulting just a disgrace. Microsoft wanted $200AUD for them to "refurbish" the console, they can shove their refurbished system. I've got the 360 working at the moment buy redoing the heat sync's mounting system those xclamps that hold the CPU and GPU on are a rubbish system (cost me $30AUD for some Arctic Silver 5 hs paste, bolts, nuts and washers). I'm going to avoid any microsoft system from now on, and Halo3 will be the last microsoft game studios game I'll ever buy. I only bought the 360 for halo3 and they didn't even have the decency to release the game before my console packed it in.

Just buy a new XBOX 360 from Wal Mart and return the old one! No they don't check the serial number. A friend of mine did, it worked great, now he has a brand new console with warranty! If they do an exchange only, sell the extra console on ebay.
Quit bi*ching, there's always a way to get a new console without paying for a repair. These problems will be almost nonexistant when the 65nm chips are used.
What do you plan on playing if you get a PS3? Give up the best game selection of any next gen console for 2 decent exclusive games and hope you can get a game in the future that makes the $600 worth it?
