Halo 3 viral marketing surfaces? |
Ó
Bungie Studios could be up to their viral marketing hijinks again, this time with Halo 3 - and it all starts with the rather cryptic logo you see in the image to the right of this article.According to Gamedrop, the logo made its very first appearance in the post of a certain boards administrator, AdjutantReflex, made on Bungie's Halo 3 forums. Then it was sighted yet again, as a part of the image background of a very recent and very cryptic e-mail from Xbox.
While this could all be construed as mere coincidence, the logo made itself known once more, this time on the back of the T-shirts and on the placards of protesters over at Times Square.
Calling themselves the Society of The Ancients or SOTA, they yelled and ranted about the existence of aliens, as well as the alleged truth behind mysteries such as Stonehenge (of course, aliens did everything). While we can't say for sure just yet if it IS a viral marketing strategy of Bungie's (for all you know this is all a coincidence), we can certainly say that if it was a marketing move, then it takes a lot of creativity - as well as some far out-of-the-box thinking - to think something like this up.
More updates about this peculiar logo and all that entails as they come, and in the meantime, watch this video about aforementioned protesters in full-blown action. Enjoy!

Viral marketing sucks,it never makes sense.
Um wow stupid nothing to do with halo just stupid people that believe in aliens
http://206.16.223.65/
This is the page that talks about "aliens"
http://societyoftheancients.com/evidence.htm
on that page there is a link to http://206.16.223.65/
which has a countdown timer to sept 22th? heh kinda funny.
only 3 days b4 halo3 comes out.
http://halo.wikibruce.com/206.16.223.65
check that out.
I just checked. Guess who owns that IP?
Microsoft Corporation ATTENS-010075-004450 (NET-206-16-223-0-1)
206.16.223.0 - 206.16.223.255
Then why does Microsoft Corp. own the site? Pwnt noob.
Isn't this more like a Subliminal messaging? rather than viral marketing? it dose not get its message across very well if its about halo 3.
This is probably a countdown to when who ever Adjacent Reflex guy is going to do next. Its like the Cortana letters for Halo 1. Every now and then they release pieces of the puzzle for us to figure out.
Sounds like Stargate to me, but many sci-fi's use this idea or something close.
to all u ppl who dont believe this might be true
look at this: http://www.halo3.com/comic/
comic of halo 3, at the last page the 3 strips r flash and so u can uncover numbers in all 3, use those numbers as an ip n u find 206.16.223.65 go there and u find a countdown..:O a countdown to what?!
ps:the symbol of these people appears in big at the last page of the commic. u be the judge!
Mabye they're trying to get people to join in then they chage the site to advertise halo 3. (Mabye when the countdown ends). Or they just slowly give out info linking it to halo 3 (Like the symbol being found in africa were the big thingy is under the ground in the first trailer).
Or it could just be people who believe in aliens, we'll just have to wait and find out.
Microsoft should seriously consider hiring better actors.
it get's people talking and thinking about halo and that's all that matters....hence, viral marketing...
I just wish they could get some more intelligent people that could come up with better stories on the fly when a standbyer asks them questions.....that guy was an idiot and i'd would tell him that if he tried to go...uh uh, like things like uh...pyramids and uh STONEHENGE! uh uh you know those stones weighed as much as uh uh uh uhmmm this thing i'm standing on!!! whoa!!!
Come on now...
Watch that countdown for a few minutes, it seems to have an pattern, but it doesn't go down in seconds. Also, watch the last number of the countdown when it reaches zero, it's very strange.
