Halo 3: ODST - Image 1

Since its highly-anticipated launch on September 22nd, it seems Halo 3: ODST has been flying off shelves and into Xbox 360 systems. USA Today reports that the Bungie FPS has sold 2.5 million units worldwide, amassing more than US$ 125 million in revenues

Earlier in September, pre-orders for the game went soaring past 1.2 million, so it would seem that the amount has doubled since launch, plus a bit more.

Michael Pachter had a few words for the game's success. "That's pretty good for a game that most called an expansion pack," he said. I'll leave you guys to comment on that one-liner.

Halo? A brilliant piece of art? Ehh.

» Don't

assume that people paid full price for this. Anyone who did is silly. Besides that, as much as I dislike how Halo is heralded as the best FPS in the world, I have to say that ODST is a decent game. Firefight may be a ripoff of other games, but who cares? It's fun and enjoyable. The campaign?...Yeah don't worry about that.

Pachter makes me laugh though, all I see him saying now is either common sense or a mockery of others. The guy needs to STFU.

» ha ha ha!!!!

You are a moron!!! ODST is nothing but some DLC for Halo 3. You got ripped off!!!!!! You moron...

by FlagBearer - 2009-10-09 12:04
» No....

YOU got ripped off for (probably) BUYING the DLC maps.

I have Halo 3, but never bothered to buy the new maps, so the multiplayer disc has value to me, since it lets me play ranked again. The firefight mode is awesome, and with friends its incredible fun. No matchmaking sucks, but you at least don't get stuck with annoying tards like you.

The campaign was fun. It was perfect length for me, I like a shorter story with awesome multiplayer, that's just the way the trends are headed. Stop flaming, it was too big for DLC a la L4D2, and $65 is WAY worth it.

» hmmm...

All the H3 DLC is 1400pts, that's only 19.99 in canada and bestbuy sells odst for 69.99.

So that's $50 for a super short campaign.

I don't see the value...

» well...

no sht that halo would sell so much...its a good game

» I break my long silence to say two things

Shatterdome from previous conversations you don't even like halo so you're in no place to see any value out of any of it.

Oh and by the way seasoned halo veterans will take about 8 hours or so to complete it if they play it on legendary (I wouldn't have wanted it to go on much longer to be honest). If you play it on any lower dificuly expect it to be way too short. I had fun sneaking around in the dark but the story arc needed to finish when it did, anymore and it would have just been too drawn out.

Highlight of the game for me was taking out a scarab in the flooded new mombassa.

Lethal_NFS, some people just play for the story and are not interested in multiplayer.

ODST is great story adding some much needed depth to the halo universe, for once it's not just all about Master Cheif. The maps are a nothing inclusion to me, I haven't even stuck the second disk in.

» Hmmm

Difference is that ODST comes with the Halo 3 Multiplayer ( You don't need Halo 3 to play the multiplayer, get it?). It doesn't come with "just" the maps. Its the whole multiplayer experience. :)

As for me, i'll be getting this one since i don't have halo 3.

» Few things on ODST

1. Its not an expansion/DLC, its a whole new campain new story, new hero and all that stuff they advertised.

2. The game's story is based more on the novel, than anything, you see finally a new creature that wasn't in Halo 2.

3. Its more like Halo:Combat Evolved than Halo 2 or 3, because it has the overshield and health.

4. Last but not least, RECON ARMOR.

» ugh

Halo is way overhyped ... i have halo 2 and 3 .... but as for ODST , sorry not for me ... you won't get my $ for a DLC for the price a full game
