Halo 3 - Image 1A lot of gamers are anxiously awaiting Bungie's Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack slated to go live this April 15. For some of the more hardcore players, those two weeks may seem like an eternity. Thankfully, some members of the team who made the maps decided to give out a little information about one of the maps in the game: Blackout.

Players who've tried the Sidewinder map in Halo 2 will probably remember this map since it is essentially a re-imagination of it. While some of the more prominent landmarks can still be found, expect the map to be a little more easy to travel since some of the harder jumps have been toned down.

It was also revealed that Blackout is set in a UNSC research station in the Arctic. According to Allen Murray, the producer of all Halo 3 DLC, it is where all of the R&D on military grade Otter Pop rations took place.

Murray also mentioned that the map would have some pretty interesting scenery including cool racks of glacier core samples, Doppler radar, and other pieces of research gear strewn about. Further lending the Artic feel to the map is the addition of the "beautiful Aurora Borealis in the sky."

There were other details the dev team mentioned about Blackout such as some details on the map development. If you want to find out more don't hesitate to click on the Source Link below. Be sure to keep checking back here for the latest information

# Not Sidewinderavatar76 2008-03-25 13:01
This article mentions that it is Sidewinder reimagined, not so, Sidewinder was a Halo Combat Evolved map (Halo1) and never featured in Halo2 (unfortunately) . This looks to me like a reimagination of Lockout (a Halo2 map), this map was popular on phantoms game type as well as the swords and `nades games type.

Please fix the article, halo fanboys will wet their pants if they think sidewinder is coming back (probably the most popular halo map ever). Possibly even more so then Blood Gulch/Coagulation/Valhalla. And they'll flame you for misreporting it when they realise it's not true.

"Avalanche" is a reimagination of Sidewinder from Halo1.

But the map above, blackout, is not it.

They still should fix the above article though.

Blackout doesn't look anything like sidewinder makes the article look like a stupid rumour rather then it being true.

Honestly, this latest SNAFU by QJ is nothing surprising to Rickey. This site is very shoddy and lacking in content. Errors are commonplace here at QJ and the writing is extremely poor. What's most aggrevating is the silly amature ways that the writers at QJ try tomake you click on the articles. "You can learn more by..." Blah blah blah, its so childish and silly and it's only designed to boost page hits. This site really cannot be trusted for a source of gaming news anymore. It is simply too poorly managed, run, and written. Rickey recommends going here instead:
