Halo 3 knocks down Gears of War in Xbox Live |

Gears of War has finally been taken down a notch as the top contender in Xbox Top Live games and is replaced by (dun dun duuuuun) Halo 3. It's not exactly a spine-tingling revelation since we all knew it was going to happen anyway, but some might still feel the need to see it in black and white.For the week ending on September 24, Gears of War is hot and heavy on second place, while the Call of Duty 4 Beta is on sixth. Medal of Honor Airborne has left the top 10 while Madden NFL 08 is still sitting pretty on fourth place - same spot last month - surviving and ignoring the major changes in the list.
Top game in XBLA goes to everyone's favorite spiny speedster: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Bomberman LIVE is still strong at second place while Streets of Rage 2 is still popular at third. The top 10 list in the original Xbox Top Live Games retain mostly the same games but Halo 2 is still on top.

Everyone who buy Gears of war as Halo 3 now! (almost) And I think a lot of them was really stun by the inferior graphic of Halo 3. At least the gameplay is awesome...
I never disillusioned myself thinking that Halo 3 would have better graphics then Gears.
However, I beleive they did do a much better job on lighting, just there is a lack of detail that gears has.
But yes, funnest game ever, and with the crazy amount of gameplay options and the forge editor....it's going to be a long time before I get sick of it....
was a disappointment I thought halo 3 will have next gen graphics but no it was just a halo 2.5 type game.
Oh well. Yeah the gameplay was good, but we all know multiplayer is better.
I will not argument that the graphics are unimportant and that other games may graphically push the 360 to new limits. But when I consider the time money and effort involved to produce the 3rd part of Halo I myself was very pleased to see that the characters as portrayed in Halo 1 were still very recognizable. The environments have become more lush the explosions more vivid but they have in my opinion kept the basics very similar so that I can go back and play 1 - 2 and now 3 in sequence without the feeling that Halo 1 is too old or out dated.
I assume this is deliberate, had Halo 3 been graphically altered to the highest levels of today then I would feel that Halo 1 and 2 would be relegated to the past. For myself Halo 3 breathed new life into them and this is of benefit to the franchise as a whole. New xbox users can pick up the previous Halo's without feeling that its too old and the fun of playing all 3 sequentially will be great.
and i gave up. will giv multiplayer a try when i get myself a wireless dongle. i prefer geow
