Halo 3 gets "A-Hole Button" feature |
Ó
If you remember, we recently posted something about Jen Taylor and enjoying the new script Bungie gave her for Halo 3, which was so the drama, and towards the end, Bungie mentioned something about a "mute" button for the irritatingly talkative. Time to flesh that detail out with a little help from Eurogamer. First off, what Bungie's calling it (unofficially though), and the name certainly made this writer's day. The "A-Hole Button" (QJ's patented autobleeper TM is, by the way, not activated for this article). The Back button on the controller is mapped to the A-Hole function. Use the right stick to select the verbally offensive player (a.k.a, the A-Hole) to mute him. Based on the comments of Bungie's Frank O'Connor (Content Manager) to Eurogamer, they're rather happy with the feature.
Any muted player you have selected in your Xbox Live account overrides
Halo 3's new system, but that should actually enhance the choice of
maroons you're editing out of your gameplay. Best of all, it means
fewer wasted or frustrating gameplay sessions.
Short of an Xbox Live feature that physically washes the mouths of microphone abusers, or at the least terminates their Gamertags with extreme prejudice, the A-Hole feature may be the best weapon against noise pollution in Live. At the very least, multiplayer will be even sweeter music to the ears.
Hey, Bungie: keep the name. It rocks.

***** ***** ***** a-hole bastard. Just push the A button. Very Nice!
Now it would be great if they could make it so that you don't get in matchmaking parties with A-Holes
You can already mute players just by selecting review player in ANY game anyway.Cant see much point in this. But I cant wait for the Halo 3 game though.
They added a mute feature for no reason. You can already mute anybody in any game you play by using the 360. You just use the guide button and mute the person.
This is really pointless you can already mute people in Halo 2 also and in 360 so which A-Hole came up with this....
This just makes it quicker so you don't have to stop game play to do it. Plus, you aren't useing the back button anyways and this way its a quick press and your back in the game. If you feel its a waste, what do you feel would be a better use of the back button.
I AGREE WITH THE GUY ^^^ ABOVE ME
ITS A WASTE OF TIME SINCE YOU CAN ALREADY DO IT THROUGH THE GUIDE BUTTON UTILITY THING
THE A HOLE BUTTEN IS STUPID, THE BACK BOTTON IS USED FOR CHEAKING THE SCORE DURING THE GAME THIS IS GAY
This way, you can mute dumbasses in 2 seconds, whereas when you use the Xbox guide, it takes like 30 seconds because the Xbox Guide is so sluggish and shiddy.
This is one of the best things I've heard about Halo 3. Excellent.
Looks like you are thinking of the PS3 with your comments, with the 360 You press x than a and select mute THATS TWO BUTTON PRESS,and if you actually have a 360 and the xbox guide is sluggish/(shiddy?) then it is your Broadband connection looks like you may be a lagger...
yeah but its kind of annoying to have to stop playing, making your guy a sitting duck, while you navigate to find the player and select mute voice, this would make it take no less than a couple seconds and youd be right back in the action
is matchmaking system. dont get me wrong, i think what they have is better than any other game out there, but i hate when i play double team, for instance, and im a level 25, it matches me against other 25s, but these same people are 35s in slayer and i just get raped. i think there should be some sort of "overall" level which governs who youre matched against. there are plenty of people playing, so it wouldnt make matchmaking difficult.
So this means that the main character in halo is gay????
The back button is for checking your scores... Lol tol-noob
*a-hole button*
