Halo 3 expected to make US$ 155 million on its first day

Bungie and Microsoft are going all out with Halo 3 as they push a very media-driven promotional event in preparation for Halo 3. The event is such that it will equal the promotional values of a blockbuster movie.

Microsoft is aiming for Halo 3 to surpass the US$ 125 million that Halo 2 got on it's first day of release. The projected sales for Halo 3's first day out? US$ 155 million, with insiders thinking it might even reach US$ 170 million. That figure is even more than the US$ 151 million that "Spiderman 3" got on its first weekend.

The release of the game is expected to boost Xbox 360 sales as well. Aside from the push into already recognizable brands like 7-Eleven and Burger King, Microsoft will also be pushing for programming on cable networks featuring the making of Halo and its soundtrack.

The cable events will be pulling in celebrities and music artists alike, like Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. Halo 3 is also the official sponsor of Projekt Revolution music tour. The media promotions are estimated to exceed "tens of millions of dollars."

they might actually hit the mark my friend!!! i mean they got $125mil for Halo2 and i don't remember how much a game costs back then but i know it was cheaper and the gaming industry in getting more hype and attention right now especially with the brewing console wars, the entire industry is doing considerably better...

everybody here knows i'm a PS3 fan and admittedly i don't like Microsoft, Xbox, and Halo but i want Halo3 to hit that mark cause as a gamer this will bring bragging rights to the industry, people would see that these products are more than just "games" but an enterprise on its own and that the gaming industry has power at par with all the rest.

sadly no matter how well it does i would never appreciate it cause FPS is my least liked genre (although i do play it even winning a couple of counterstrike tourneys back in the day).

The Halo games seem kind of quirky to me. Sure they have tons of fans but the quality and entertainment value suck. There are plenty of other shooters out there that are a lot more fun. Another thing is the story blows. The genre rips off other games ideas before it and to me, if I had a 360, I would not buy this game. I do have the original XBOX and have played Halo on rental and my friend has Halo 2, so I played that one too but I don't think they are worth buying. Sure they are good for a rental but they get old real fast.

Not only does Halo have a fan base of millions of people Halo 3 is also the most anticipated game of the year. The game features more than 60,000 sound clips, tons of vehicles, tons of new weapons, enemies, maps, forge, and a video recording feature. It has one of the best storylines in any game.

Its gameplay is kinda basic but it still fun

4 player online co-op,

Kick a$$ online play

Large online community, with machinima and all.

Huge player/fan base

And its gonna be hella fun making your own game modes and messing around with the game engine.

Tell me one PS3 game that has all these elements.

To CHUCKINGROCKSAT SPACESHIPS, play Halo 2 online with friends playing tremors, zombies, and the the game modes made made by the community and tell me its not fun.

Halo 2 single player was fun but to short, online was fun because theres so many possibilities and ways to play it.

Halo is one of the most awful FPS's to ever touch a console. Sure halo would be cool, if you were about 10-12 years old. Let's just all be happy that Halo is only trashing the 360 and not the PS3. At least one PS3 we have games that actually make sense like SOCOM.

Halo 3 will EASILY hit $155 million. If you can't see that you're blind. It will probably exceed that, maybe by a lot.

As has already been mentioned, Halo 2 hit $125 million during it's first day. The hype and advertising for Halo 3 are much greater than for Halo 2, and it's sales will easily exceed Halo 2's. Combine that with the fact that the game is at least $10 more than the regular edition of Halo 2 and up to $80 more than the regular edition, and you've got at least $155 million.

Im not biased i have played both the 360, PS3, and Wii. Hell i own an Xbox360, Wii, PSP, and am planning on buying a ps3 if its survives this year and MGS4 doesnt suck. I have played much Resistance and Halo1,2,and 3. Resistance ithought was better then halo 1 and 2, at first, once i had played it for 50 or so hours online and beat the multiplayer, i was bored. Halo 2 yeah the 1 player blew balls but the multiplayer kicked enought ass that it didnt matter i still play it on my 360 from time to time. Buy the the way never play tournements there not fun just to dam hard.

One thing that bugged me on resistance was the online unlockable if you beat the game on the hardest setting you became harder to kill which made the online game a lot harder, and cheap at times.

I think you will find that what you actually have is a PS3 not a 360 as when games released on both machines are compared its the PS3 that drops frames so checkout the makers name on the console again.

And to the idiot above, what are you talking about your post makes no sense ?. oh and if you want to see lag in a game watch out for the next review of LAIR now that game lags and drops more frames than anything I have seen so far on next gen consoles maybe tht is why it is scoring around 5 out of 10 compared to Bioshocks 10 out of 10 reviews.

there isn't any other console out there with just the one franchise going with its name. PS3 fans are all split up between games like Gran Turismo and Ratchet and Clank and stuff. For anybody that does have an xbox especially the first one you better have Halo and like it because there isn't any other over hyped game for the system. Notice too how in order for them to sell alot they had to not show that much footage of the game because if people see how similar looking it is to Halo2 then they won't buy it.

link to Lair reviews of the finished copy because I haven't seen any yet. There is a new achievement for Halo3 though. 50 points if you can get through the single player game without having to send your 360 back to HQ at least twice. 360 sales didn't rocket past PS3 you idiot. PS3 sales are still up this week compared to last week. And who the hell in there right mind would go out and buy a 360 at the moment when they still haven't fixed the RROD problem. Oh and a 3 year warranty doesn't fix the problem.
