Guitar Hero II AP promises oodles of downloadable content |
Ó
In a recent interview with IGN, Guitar Hero II's Associate Producer Ted Lange managed to answer some questions (as well as completely avoid a few), and even make some promises that would make any fan of the franchise drool. Asked how the ten extra tracks were selected, Lange noted that their choices were pretty much influenced by the suggestions and recommendations of fans who posted their opinions on forums. Some of the songs, on the other hand, were those that they wanted to get onto the PS2 version but didn't due to time constraints.
Lange was also asked about the possibility of people being able to use the Xbox 360's HDD to use their own custom songs in the game. He replied that he wasn't aware of a way to do this yet, but noted that "we're sure that with the amount of tech savvy people out there people will find a way to do almost anything that they want."
The next question was on how the game will be taking advantage of Xbox Live's download service. Lange said they're still ironing everything out and acquiring some more licenses. "Though nothing has been announced at this time, we can definitely say nobody will be disappointed. We are planning on having more online content than anyone has ever seen in a game to this date." Ooh. (On a sidenote, we just noticed that if they are able to deliver with this promise, and maintain and update a formidable library of popular tracks, then this may just extend the lifespan of the game indefinitely.)
Other bits that were tackled in the interview included the announcement that the 360 version of the game will have two unlockable tracks as well as 50 unlockable achievements, the fact that the 360 version will sport remodelled and shaded characters to keep up with the next-gen HD look, as well as the addition of online leaderboards.
However, when asked whatever happened with Stairway and Metallica, Lange simply answers, "No comment, I plead the 5th." Awww...

Looks like another good 360 title to buy plenty of replay value as well, any UK release date?.
