Rockstar: We've made a full game in The Lost and Damned - Image 1

Defying the conventions of DLC, Rockstar Games feel that they made a full game with Grand Theft Auto IV's The Lost and Damned. Dev boss Jeronimo Barrera says that they maxed out the memory size limit for DLC on the Xbox 360 just to deliver all the content:

ThereÂ’s nothing ever been out like it. WeÂ’ve done a full game in my opinion, in terms of the production quality and the new gameplay mechanics. WeÂ’ve literally reached the maximum memory size that we can do for DLC with Microsoft. YouÂ’re going to get a lot of game.

ThatÂ’s not to say there hasnÂ’t been good downloadable content: obviously, there has been, but I find a lot of the time the stuff you can download to be more of an appendage to a game in terms of, you know, a new area opens up, or you can travel to another island, or something like that.

You know, itÂ’s cool, and it keep fans coming back, but [there's] nothing thatÂ’s crossed story arcs and thatÂ’s what weÂ’re trying to do, to push this, to deliverÂ… a new experience, and I think weÂ’ve hit it right out of the ballpark.

If you think you spent too much time on GTA IV, you'd better prepare yourself for "hours and hours and hours" of game in The Lost, says Barrera. Stop teasing, Barrera. You got me at hello. The DLC sounds like a pretty sweet deal at 20 bucks. The Lost and Damned will come out tomorrow for 1600 MS Points.

» @Olimpiky

What Rockstar meant was that they maxed out the imposed size limit of DLC for Xbox Live. Currently the max is 350 MB, so you'll still have plenty of space on your drive ;)

» DLC Size

The DLC size is about 2GB. Says so on the back of the box.

You\\\'re right. Did some digging around

My bad. The 350 MB limit must only be for Arcade games. 2GB, whoa. That\'s gonna take a while to download. Guess you won\'t have much free space left after then, Olimpiky

» Hmmm

The DLC size limit is imposed on Arcade games, not expansions or other things such as movies and so on.

» ya...

the oblivion expansion was definately around a gig...

» no matter what you say rockstar

its just an expansion not a FULL GAME.

a full game never relies on the previous one's disc.

in short a full can be played by itself (stand alone).

anyways i hope this expansion also hits pc.

or ps3 next year, whichever could be possible!

» OMG YES!!

If you have a PS3 then you will excited by the $50 you dont have to spend every year, and the fact that you have a reliable console that wont crash on you. I've learned that companies that are willing to kiss the asses of other companies for money (even when they could make over $25 million had they made the game for the PS3 as well) often make pieces of crap games.

Play less and you usually get less. Pay more and you get a Blu-Ray player, pay more and you get a better online experience with more exclusives.

And MS approached Rockstar to make the DLC. It wouldn't exist if MS didn't fund the project. Stop your crying and go back to your K2 threads.

» Don't bother Devise

All these PS3 fanboys are hypocrites. Of course when you pay more for a PS3 you get more, but oh no, the same is not true for Xbox, it can't be...

Pay more for PS3 you get more features, pay more for online play, guess what? You get, more features!

by BIG_SHOT89 - 2009-02-17 18:21
» lmfao

i am DEF NOT a fan boy, i could care a less about which system is "better" or has "more features" lol i was just being a baby cause i would like to play this seeing as how i have been a avid GTA fan....psh..fanboy..give me a break

» They paid

$50 million right? How are they going to recoup the costs? I don't really understand it.. That's a really large sum of money, I guess they figured they would sway enough people to buy the 360 version?

by Master Chef - 2009-02-18 12:46
» lol not you dude

Devise and I were talking to Justin and people like him, not you

I just can't stand how they all say you get more when you buy a PS3, but the $50 for XBL is a waste of money because PS3 does it free.

The PS3 does not do it all for free, PS3 does not have 8 person party chat, video chat, video chat with 4-8 others while playing certain arcade games, the amount of DLC, the selection of downloadable games, etc. XBL has all that and more for a measly $50 a year ($39 if you buy XBL cards on Amazon)
