GTA IVMicrosoft and Rockstar Games, publishers of the (in)famous Grand Theft Auto series, have recently announced an alliance to bring exclusive episodic content to Xbox Live for the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto IV.

This is a good move for Microsoft as it aims to provide the console with more ammo for the upcoming release of the PlayStation 3 which is due to arrive this November. At present, there's no word from the Sony camp as to whether it will counter with an offer of its own; but Sam Houser, executive producer and founder of Rockstar was quoted saying that "through Xbox Live, we have a unique opportunity to reach out to our audience in new ways." Peter Moore, corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business, also added, "few franchises have had the profound impact on our industry as Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto IV in high definition on Xbox 360? We couldnÂ’t be more excited to have the title on our platform from day one."

The Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV is expected to hit North American stores on October 16, 2007. Whatever this new episodic content is will surely be welcomed by GTA enthusiasts.

screw episodic content

make the 60 dollar game I buy worth the price of admission and move on. Unless they're going to offer FREE additions after the initial release which I'm sure is improbable at best I say nay.

Yea and the PC version will have bazillions of user mods, vehicles, skins, visual packs ect. ect.... Who cares about 'exclusive' content :P

exclusive episodic content, is Sony's shaking in their boots? - Doubt it

I'll be willing to put money that GTA IV sells more on the PS3 than it does on the 360. And by the way the Rockstar company has been doing lately we will be lucky if GTA IV is actually any good. Many of their developers have jumped ship. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I personally can't wait for Mass Effect and Assasin's Creed. Those will be the open world games that define the next generation.

sony sucks

its all downhill from here. sony is going to take the same game have rockstar add a little more content and sell it for more. XBOX 360- PS3. WTF. And people are just going to waste there money buying the PS3 because sony always fuc#s up there first time. take a look at the PS2. They went from big and bulky to little and problomatic.
