Greenberg: Natal will sell "millions and millions"

Microsoft has pretty high hopes for Natal, that much is certain. In fact, Aaron Greenberg claims it's not just going to sell millions, but "millions and millions".

"Our focus for launch [for Natal] is on original experiences, built from the ground up," the Microsoft product director said in an interview for Edge's April issue. "We believe that's important because the first impression has to be a magical one.

"But because we expect millions and millions of these things to be sold this Christmas, over time developers will know millions of customers have these sensors so they can add functionality to their games.

"So you may see hybrid approaches, but our initial focus is on those unique experiences."

Natal is slated for launch towards the end of the year.

This is gonna be like band or guitar hero where loads of people buy it but might just get dug out every other week and exactly like Ps3 move developers will lose interest, i mean come on people honestly how long before the novelty of being stuck fixed in front of a camera wears off? The idea is interesting but does anyone really think it's gonna last.

Fixed in front of a camera, fixed in front of a tv... what's the difference, especially when the camera is right in front of the tv anyways? Also, if you haven't figured out how to play motion sensing games sitting/lying down, then you're not a true gamer

I think Natal and Move will be very interesting to watch grow over time and I think that seeing what the 1st party devs do with this tech will really draw in the 3rd party devs. These Natal/Move games will only be novelties if devs treat the tech as a novelty. It's all about the commitment.

i have brought ddr mats and guitar hero stuff and after a few weeks it's useless to me i play every now and then those were original experiences so was the wii but the only difference is i still use it although for japanese games only or nintendo games. my point is natal will end up getting shelved only because its an add on and more hardcore gamers are used to and will stick to the controller instead of being copying sony and nintendo micro$oft should not try too hard to an original idea that is likely not to be shelved later.

You don't seem to recognize who we are dealing with here. This is the man who will brag up a storm about anything xbox because he is full of himself. So statements and news like this aren't surprising.

I dont see it selling millions and millions...I doubt it will sell 1 million by that time...so far they haven't showed something new...and the only guy who talks about it is him...plus they can't beat the Move commercial XD
