Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Image 1

Hey, Euro gamers. Feeling bummed out because Sony has the Euro release of Ghostbusters locked? You don't have to wait until the timed PS3 exclusivity on the game runs out so you can play the game on your Xbox 360 anymore.

According to a report from Destructoid, Atari has confirmed that the North American version of Ghostbusters for Xbox 360 will not -- repeat, NOT -- be region-locked. If you're really dead set on playing the game as soon as possible, then go check your friendly neighborhood retailer and see if they've already scored some copies.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is scheduled for release next week on June 16.

» This info...

Will help the pirates too. Region Free is both good and bad.

» not really...

every disc contains this info, and most releases state the region in the title. this being news is really a non-issue as far as piracy is concerned.

region free is only bad if you like being told what you can play based on where you live.

$10 say this will be leaked a few days before release on a torrent site

» So what are they saying here

It's only a timed exclusive on PS3 on Europe? That the USA is getting it on 360 and PS3 at the same time, so if you're a Euro 360 owner and savy enough you can buy a USA copy and play it the same as your Euro PS3 owner counterparts???

That doesn't sound right to me but that's what the article suggests in that top paragraph.

» Eh

It doesn't really matter, if you're smart enough to pirate hopefully you're smart enough to figure out which region you want. It's not hard to find out. Region free may be less work, but if pirates want a game they can get it.

Also, I have family in another country. When I go over and bring my games, I want them to WORK in that country. Region free is the way to go. I don't like having to either copy or download my DVDs and burn them region-free to another DVD just so I can watch my movies there.
