Gears of War spin-off, Fenix picks up a golf club?

Most of us know Microsoft's big bad title, Gears of War. While we're not getting a sequel yet, Epic Games revealed that they're working on a spin-off. Marcus Fenix ain't taking a gun this time, he'll be taking the mustached plumber's lead and have a golf game of his own. Yes, Epic boss Mark Rein confirmed that it's gonna be Gears of War Golf.

Epic went through all the trouble to hear from a Korean publisher about making casual games using Unreal Engine 3, and the results sound good. Rein says "So we got an animator to make a golf swing for Marcus Fenix, and then a programmer took one of the Gears levels and added some mounds and stuff to make a course." GoW's grenade launching mechanic was used for the ball, so let's all hope it reaches the hole safely.

Unfortunately, the project is said to be internal for Epic Games so we won't be seeing the game's launch any time soon. Good things come to those who wait, and Gears of War Golf might be a promising title worth waiting for.

The 360's library needs quirky games like these and I don't see why other game characters can't be in games like these. Sold Snake from the Metal Gear Solid games for example is going to be in Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

It might be good if those type of game are released as an arcade game not a full retail release.

I just remembered, My Katamari is coming to 360 and those types of games I'm talking about when I say quirky games. I think this would help Microsoft in the long run to bring in more people in Japan and to not just appear as just an FPS console. Games like these can bring different genras which is one of the reasons why PS2 was successful.

It doesn't have to be GOW Golf, just something new and crazy, but fun. If Microsoft makes sure they do that, I don't see why Xbox360 can't penetrate Japan. Viva Piniata, My beautiful Katamari, and Reyman: Raving rabidds are a start. Keep em coming Microsoft!

for those of you who needed proof that Micro cares more about the money then the consumer/quality of game, there you have it.. right there.... if they had said football MAYBE (HOLY ***** MAYBE) i would have been like ok, but with this, it is evident micro want your money not your respect.
