Gears of War movie still gunning for 2010 - Image 1

Over the course of last year, we heard a lot of news from the ones planning to make a movie adaptation of popular Xbox 360 video game, Gears of War (also for PC). Since we heard New Line Cinema acquiring the rights for the movie, we've heard about the preview of the script and a look at the possible director, and this update is all about, well, an update about the movie's progress.

In an interview with ComingSoon, producer Wyck Godfrey revealed that they have a script and a director (that they're "about to attach") for the project. Godfrey indicated that they'll "hopefully make that early next year for the summer of 2010." So what do we know about Epic Games' epic video game's impending trip to the big screen? Well, we do know that Stuart Beattie will be penning the script while Temple Hill Entertainment will be producing. We also know that the film makers, the scriptwriter in particular, will be working closely with Cliff Bleszinski (better known around these parts as Cliffy B).

It's still a long way until 2010, and a lot more info can crop up in the coming months. We'll get you them updates when they happen so stay tuned for more Gears of War the movie news.

» CG/actors

I hope the movie is pure CG and will not be using actors. That way, the COG can look exactly how they do in the game, and you can use the same great voices. Anyone else see this?
