The lucky people of GamesRadar have been given the opportunity to preview Gears of War 3, arguably one of the most-awaited games for the Xbox 360. Read on for a peek at what it has to offer.

Gears 3 is set 18 months after the second game. COG has disbanded due to Chairman Prescott's disappearance. As if that wasn't bad enough, another dangerous threat has shown up: the Lambent infestation. Oh, and Dom grew a beard.

Weapons are foremost among the game's new additions. There's a heavy version of the sniper rifle called the One Shot, which as the name suggests can take down enemies in one hit. Another is a sawn-off Gnasher. The reload times are painfully long but its cross-hair spans almost the entire screen so you can hit multiple targets.

There's even an exo-suit called the Silverback. It's armored as hell up front and vulnerable from the back, but it can switch modes to become a veritable wall that just so happens to have a pair of guns as arms.

Multiplayer's also getting overhauled, and if you had a problem with the lag in Gears 2 then you'll be happy to know that there's talk about dedicated servers. One interesting new map is set in a dilapidated thrashball stadium. The scoreboard still works, though, and even keeps track of 'home' and 'away' kills.
