We came, we saw, we conquered the hell out of 'em (and spent countless sleepless nights in the process as well). Yes, for avid Xbox 360 owners, Achievements can definitely get engrossing - "Marcus Fenix, I wish I knew how to quit you!" They're like Easter eggs in a game that give you a sense of self-fulfillment for being able to master a certain specific skill, goal, or strategy (or sometimes even the lack thereof).

But have you ever wondered about getting more than just "self-fulfillment"? Seems like all your efforts would finally get paid off. Unscripted360 has reported a supposed news leak that Xbox is trying to make deals with sponsors to reward gamers for their Achievements. What kind of rewards? Surely, more than just that "Unlocked Achievement" sound.

This new reward program is rumored to start next month and all you have to do is register. No fees included. Just continue what you do best - "I can't quit you, Dom!" - and rake in as much Achievements as you can, whether in casual games, RPGs, or FPSes. It's also been noted that these mysterious rewards would only be limited to a certain number of winners (probably the first few people who get to unlock a certain Achievement).

Yes, we're notching this as a rumor first, due to the lack of more info and no official word from Microsoft. Don't worry, we're sure to follow this up pretty soon. Here's to hoping for those rewards! Let the real games begin.

» Great..

While I can appreciate the idea, I'm not so sure I like it. Achievements were supposed to be there for a sense of self satisfaction. Now with this some people will be more concerned with getting achievements rather than just enjoying the game.

It's already like that to an extent...this just makes the "achievement whores" worse.

» Sounds cool

If it will be really nice if they gave us Microsoft points for the achievemnts we have. Will all of that downloadable content on Live, Microsoft points would be a really nice thing to have.
