True to his word, Peter Molyneux did unveil secrets for Lionhead Studio's Fable 2. So what's the big secret? Described as "risky, but worth the risk," the new feature is actually a canine sidekick, which will be there to play the role of the loyal pet to help you distract or threaten new enemies.
The dog will also be there to help you scout out new locations, as well as sniff out hidden items. Molyneux raves on that the dog's intelligence is "something you've never seen before." Interesting as well is the fact that the dog will actually grow to adopt it's master's traits. Well, we don't find that impossible, given that those who spend much of their time together do tend to imbibe each other's characteristics.
Another key role of your new pet in Fable 2 is the unlocking of a key aspect: emotion. And what could be more powerful an emotion than love (yeah, raise up the cheese factor to a perfect ten, will ya)? Apparently, the dog is lovable inasmuch as it is loving. Says Molyneux, "once you start caring about the dog, I've got you."
And to add up to the spice of love is, of course, passion. Yes, there will be sex in this game. Well that bolted you right up in your seats, didn't it? Anyway, as before, players can go find their partners, and they did retain the same-sex marriage option here. What is new, however, is that you can now choose to actually engage in the act with a mate. Better yet, you can choose to do it with or without protection. That's mature.
As with any choice you make, their will inevitably be consequences. So, unprotected sex may lead to pregnancy. Then you'll have little offsprings to welcome you home and celebrate with you after your hard-fought battle. There won't be any miscarriages drama here, though.
Molyneux then drops the word that Fable 2 won't be ready to debut this year, so that probably means you'll have to wait 'til 2008 to see what the dog, love, sex tandem of the game will do.
