Guitar Hero II's mysterious dungeon!

Well, this is a strange way to get people to rock hard. Kotaku mentions a notice on the GameStop website about a Guitar Hero II tournament. The strange thing is, there's no mention of where and when exactly it will be held, save for a date two months from now.

Let's see just how strange this is. There are no prizes mentioned, but it does seem that guitar manufacturer Gibson is a sponsor, so there may be a real guitar at the end of this tourney. The site tells you that you can only register by visiting a "LOCAL PARTICIPATING STORE," even if they have no mention of which stores will be having the contest.  Besides, why hold the contest in February, when the game is a few months old and interest in hard rocking has waned?

Flynn de Marco, Kotaku's reporter for this bit, even talked to the local GameStop person on the phone. He writes, "A call to my GS was met with a curt, 'I have no idea what you're talking about' and then a dial tone. Nice."

Until we can get more info on this one, we'll chalk it up as an rumor. That, and a pretty involved advertisement for GH II.
