FlatOut Ultimate Carnage from Bugbear Entertainment is the sequel to FlatOut 2. And what a sequel it is. You saw yesterday's beautiful screenshots and today we have a before and after comparison between the sequel and it's predecessor.

On first glance, the difference between the screens are obvious. Better texture, lighting, and overall three dimensional look. Many things have changed between the Xbox title, FlatOut 2 and its next-gen brother, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. There are also other changes like the increase of cars on the track at once (from the previous eight to 12) along with five new single player modes plus two online modes.

The first set features the field track. Check out the water. Big difference, right? Ripple effects, the wet look of the water, and the reflections make the second screen very impressive. And check out the clouds too.

The old screen looks flat and ordinary, while the new one (sporting HDR lighting that allows for better contrast) looks... well, it sure looks hot in that desert.

The new city screen had the benefit of highly improved Car Shaders. Objects like metal, glass, rubber and chrome can definitely be picked out. The massive increase in polygons - from 5, 000 from the original FlatOut up to 20, 000 in FlatOut Ultimate Carnage - has made even the headlights look perfect.

Sound good? Well, we'll have to wait for an announcement for its U.S. release. Cross your fingers. In the meantime, we'll try an keep a look out for more updates about FlatOut Ultimate Carnage.

Looks like an updated Motostorm but as this is part 2.5 this must be more original

Looks like a similar type of game to Motostorm but with better graphics.

.

I *REALLY* love before and after shots. They provide a perfect example to all the idiots out there who feel they can judge a final game based on early released screens or demo's.

Looks great

I loved flatout on PC, but this looks like they steped up the bar, graphically at least. Look at those textures, very nice. @lmxloco Before trying to sound all high and might, and generalize people as idiots. READ THE ARTICLE FIRST FFS!!!! The first screens are Original xbox screens, the comparison screens are the 360 version.
