Five companies MS should grab ahead of EA

Ó

Epic Games! - Image 1Place your bets folks, because if this list is accurate, you may just expect some companies to become first-party devs for Microsoft. Team Xbox recently listed some game developers that they feel should be scooped into the arms of Microsoft to save their exclusives from disappearing.

From what, you might ask? Well from Electronic Arts, for one thing. Any EA title usually becomes multi-platform, and in a world where exclusivity can make or break a console, first party exclusives are definitely in.

Their list is simple but well thought out. Starting with RealTime Worlds, the creators of Crackdown, they move onto Gearbox Software, Crytek and Valve. Oh, and Epic Games tops the list for obvious reasons.

Personally, we wouldn't mind seeing multiplatform titles. Resident Evil wouldn't be the hit it was today without its exposure across different consoles. Even more importantly, options are always good for business, and as much as exclusivity entices people to choose one consoleover another, the chance to see a great game on the console of your choice is still a welcome sight.

What do you mean resident evil wouldn't be where it is today without multi-platform releases? For the longest time it was playstation only(okay there was a saturn version but only 5 of us have it.) The gamecube releases sold very poorly due to the small gamecube userbase so resident evil 4 was released for the ps2 in a washed down form. Resident evil got where it is today despite mult-platform release. MUlti-platform titles usually suck and if they say EA on them then they most definitely suck. They build the game to the lowest common denominator. Do you think EA is going to make a version of the game that takes advantage of The graphics of the X360/PS3 or the control of the WII. NO! They will make a game that has graphics like the wii with a last minute tacked-on control scheme and then port it to all 3 systems.

Those are more like "5 companies MS should kep their greedy paws off of so that they can continue to make good games and not go the way of Rare".

Rubbish, even Rares first 360 games were good for their starters on a new system and now they have the popular Viva Pinata as the start base for their more Nintendo type releases, next title is going to be Banjo-Kazooie 3 H-D which will appeal to a whole lot of people many being Nintendo owners, and you will NEVER see it on PS3

Companies can still make great games even when owned by MS, just look at Big Huge and their "Rise Of" series, or the Age of Empires games.

The only companies I would object to on that list would be Epic, which pretty much stand on their own as a solid company and game engine designer, and Valve; which is trying to present themselves as a trifecta of publisher, developer and distributor. Plus, Valve was started by "Microsoft Millionaires", so I doubt Gabe would want to go back to working for his old bosses after becoming his own.

Yeah...they'll be too busy playing Ratchet and Clank and Jak sequels to care. Banjo-Kazooie will probably take years to come out anyway...you know Rare.

Wait...what? The PS2 version of Resi 4 was like super enhanced except for the graphics, it has tons of stuff extra...
