First 1UP, now IGN: Halo 3 in September?

Oh, just wake me up when September... oh, forget it. - Image 11UP caught Shane Kim's Freudian slip: Microsoft would like to get Halo 3 out by September. Let's lube that potential breaker up now, shall we? IGN has received separate info from a completely separate source that even Bungie might be interested in a September release.

As noted, Bungie does have the final say (of sorts) on exactly when Halo 3 hits the shelves. IGN's little nameless source, from a development house "close with Bungie," says that "by getting [the game] out early it will sell more systems faster and give Microsoft a head start on its competition."

It's not smoking gun, period. It's simply an observation of the advantages of launching early. Its just coming in the general direction of Bungie, and not Microsoft Game Studios this time. Whether this bolsters the potential September firing of the Ark, or is simply more FUD, will depend much on further info released from Bungie, or from a deep cover agent willing to penetrate Bungie and break its plans out.

Well this is good news, but chances are it's not true. I was just in blockbuster the other day and they told me Halo 3 was coming in November. (I was trading four games for Halo 3 free)
