ac5More AC action is in store for PS3 and Xbox 360 owners. The latest issue of Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has preemptively announced a new entry in From Software's Armored Core series.

According to Famitsu, on of the main additions in Armored Core 5 are smaller mecha. There will apparently be five-meter-tall mechs instead of the ten-meter-tall ACs seen in the previous installments.

The decision to downgrade the mechs was made to give players a closer look at the more detailed and complex stages, said producer Toshifumi Nabeshima. The added detail in the stages as well as the smaller mech sizes will reportedly lend to more strategic fighting

Armored Core 5 will also feature new weapons, more realistic parts designs compared to the stylish ones in previous Armored Core games, and more robust mission stories. Missions will also have multiple objectives, which can change as you progress further during a mission.

The game will also have an online mode. That includes AC battles, of course, although Nabeshima hinted that there's more to Armored Core 5's online component aside from combat.

Armored Core 5 is slated for release this year in Japan.

the changes they made on the current gen AC's completely ruined it for me. Went from my favorite series to me actually selling AC4 and I never sell my games. Although, I'm not too sure about the mini mechs either but we'll see.

I'm an AC Gamer fanatic and i really enjoyed playing all of the AC games released up to now. (All but Formula Front)

This will be day 1 purchase for me. Gonna be playing this one online for a long time (Or at least until a new one comes out).

Can't wait. So excited for it.

I've been waiting for news on a new AC game, I was afraid the series wasn't going to recover after what Sega did to it...

I own every english AC game, and I loved AC4 and FA. The extra fast pace really took a huge step up in the series imo. I went back and played the original ones again, and it was absurd how easy they had become. Though, admittedly, the story suffered a bit in the transition.

I can't wait for AC5, I'll be picking it up as soon as it is available here. And, will be very angry if it doesn't make it here....

Apparently this installment will have heated chainsaws as a weapon option.

In anycase the smaller scale also means that once fodder enemies like helicopters and tanks, may actually become something that can kill you very easily.

Anycase, Im liking what I see so far. Importing definately.

Oh and Metal Wolf Chaos was the technical foundation for this one I heard. 8)
