Enterbrain: Japan's console sales for the month of February

We've got some numbers for all you gamers out there! Japan Publisher Enterbrain has recently finished tallying up the results of the region's next-gen console sales for this month.

The time period of four weeks ending February 24 sees the Nintendo Wii console dominating sales charts, at 331,627 unit sales.Sony's PlayStation 3 followed in at 89,131 units, while Microsoft's Xbox 360 ended the same month at 14,079 units sold.

On the gaming side, Enterbrain reports that Super Smash Bros. Brawl still reigns as the country's top title, at 1.33 million copies sold. SSBB is followed up by Wii Fit, with 309,311 copies sold. Keep checking QJ for more updates on the sales results as we get them.

You know I can see why the Wii outsells everything in the US ok granted. But I thought that the Japanese were (most of them at least) techphiles and would naturally buy a ps3 or (unlikely) the 360 ...and yet the wii sells nearly half a million consoles i month... ...And I know that money is not an issue there for most people....I dont get these people.



Any japanese here who would like to comment..?

well people in japan overall have always seemed to like none hard core games i think thats partly why the Ps2 sold so well cause it had so much more games on it and was the most popular one the same with the wii so i think and hope that the wii will continue to be the next "PS2" so to speak
