Electronic Arts: Mass Effect coming to the PC this May - Image 1

Analyst Michael Pachter once expressed his belief that BioWare will be releasing Mass Effect on the PlayStation 3. Mass Effect is indeed going multiplatform, but not on the PlayStation 3. At least, not yet. For now, the game is making its way into the world of PC gaming.

Looks like the recent hubbub over the game at Fox News didn't faze the game's progress.
Electronic Arts will be releasing the game for the PC this May with a couple of new features that optimizes the game for the platform:
  • Optimized controls designed specifically for the PC.
  • High resolution visuals – Mass Effect for the PC features highly detailed textures, characters and environments.
  • Fully customizable controls – PC gamers can re-map the control scheme any way they like.
  • Run & Gun Control – Players can assign biotic powers or skills to ‘hot keysÂ’ allowing them to play Mass Effect with a heavier focus on action.
  • New decryption mini-game.
  • New inventory screen GUI and functionality – The enhanced inventory system makes it easier for players to equip and modify their weapons and armor.

» anyone surprised?

We all saw this coming a mile away.

Who knows, maybe the fact that since the PC doesn't have the h/w limitations that the 360 suffers from, the devs will have "fixed" the frame rate issues and texture pop-in.

LOL, now our "non-partisan" pirate friends can join in on the sci-fi fun!!

I doubt the texture pop in will be "fixed". It seems to be built into the UE3 coding as other games such as UT3 have the same "feature".

that's too bad, but hardly game-breaking

» Cool

I have heard a great many good things about this game, but was unsure if I wanted to buy it for my 360 as I'd heard loading times can be extraordinarily long. Hopefully that won't be the case on PC, where they can use a hard drive. Might be worth checking out now.
