Ó

Now you see why the Keypad attachment was created - Image 1

Incoming Easter egg barrage!
Major Nelson confirmed that keypad attachment thing that's been bugging everyone since GameSpot pulled their article. (By the way, his provided picture matches Engadget's pictures, so they're clean on this one). So, why the keypad? Let's see, on the first day of Christmas, the Dash Update will send to thee:
  • MSN Messenger integration (Windows Live Messenger) which explains that keyboard in the first place
  • Redesigned Achievement toasts which tell you the Achievements and its Gamerscore value
  • Enhanced family settings features for Xbox Live voice and video chat which enable different default settings for each
  • New Xbox Live Marketplace blade - one stop shop (er... blade) for non-stop shop... or free demo downloads
  • Xbox Live Arcade update tells you what XBLA games your friends are playing - and jump in. Also compare Leaderboards and Achievements directly with all friends, and expanded Tell-a-Friend capabilities.
  • New Auto-Download option for XBLA provides faster access to the entire collection of free trial-version XBLA games
  • Progressively-downloaded and watched videos can now be fast-forwarded, rewound, paused, and resumed
  • One new option for Background Downloading: Auto-Off Console After Downloads Are Complete
Er, nothing about using the keyboard for in-game functionalities, but trust some dev to be coming up with The Game Of A Gazillion Hotkeys just to try... er, forget we said that. Other than that, the only thing we fear now are the IM-hoggers hogging our beloved 360 consoles... just to chat. Come on (insert chat-hogger's name here), I've got Locusts to fry!!!

Thanks to Macca for the heads-up!

How fat can controller get. i thought xbox controller were the best to play shooter games. i wonder if i needs more batteries to play. that why you should get a regular cheap good keyboard mouse to the best fps games. this old news to me. and the picture looks fake to me. Too bad for you. Live Messenger has the highest amount of users then any other IM program.

ARE U GUYS DUMB??

Ok, this isnt the whole list of updated features. THEY FINALLY ADDED DIVX SUPPORT!!!!!!!! (aka MPEG-4 Part 2) Don't believe me, go to the OFFICIAL XBOX SITE, they just posted: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2007/0408-im.htm?WText.camp=TS1-InstantMessaging&WText.campSrc=Home There is a ton of other features that no one bothered to answer.

Only fool here is you. It's has been officially accounced on microsoft.com and xbox.com. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2007/apr07/04-08MessengerXboxPR.mspx http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/2007/0408-im.htm

I'm not 100% sure that's means DivX support, but i hope it does. That would be killer. MS would need to purchase DivX licensing to allow playback and if they did why wouldn't they announce that? And DivX isn't the only video codec to use MPEG-4 Part 2.

I really like these 2: "The name of game in tray is now displayed in the dashboard." "Player and friends lists now quickly show session presence information for quick identification of users that are joinable." That last one is much better than having to go "into" the users name to see if they are joinable.

April zune

nooooooooooooooo, this is the one site that i check every day! crap! RM to iPod http://www.rm-converter.net
by - 2007-04-09 00:33:32
well

MPEG-4 is still a great codec anyways. (I don't have a great need for videos on my 360 from my computer, I have the HD-DVD attachment and just got V for Vendetta Saturday.) But I will be using this codec to the greatest extent because I use the Media Connect from my PC to connect to the Xbox.
by - 2007-04-09 00:43:10
from xbox.com

Agreed, I like this one as well. "When the user is in the dashboard and an Xbox 360 game is in the console then the name of the game is displayed in the tray icon of the dashboard. If the user highlights the tray icon then achievements and gamer score are displayed for that game based on the signed in user. Xbox1 games show the name and image of the game."

i thought april fools was on the 1st. what day is it again?
by Shatterdome - 2007-04-09 04:04:12
Yeah...

It's not divX, it's the same codec PSP adopted durring ver 2.0 Regardless it's MUCH better then WMV as far as keeping quality while still having small file sizes....aaaand if you have a PSP with converted files already, you are good to go....or say, watching the movies off your PSP or friends PSP (they did add alot of movie directory browsing features for ext devices) Still cool.... I'm looking forward to this update.
