Mass Effect's Ashley Madeline Williams - Image 1We've heard previous reports of over-eager gamers playing their games a little too early and getting painfully banned for it. However, there are still some gamers - already fortunate enough to receive an early-bird copy of their much awaited title - who still insist on playing games way before the official release date, and end up paying for it.

For instance, a screenshot which recently surfaced in online forums shows an Xbox Live Gamer Profile with a subscriber whose status indicates that s/he is playing the limited edition of Mass Effect by BioWare, for the Xbox 360.

Not surprisingly, word is out that this gamer is currently suspended for a few days due to playing an advance copy of a game. And the lesson? If you're lucky enough to get a game earlier than most people, be content in just showing the disc to your friends, or if you really want to play it, some suggest that you just make sure that your Xbox 360 is OFFLINE so you can play in peace, without the watchful eyes of Microsoft.

As for the suspended gamer and how s/he managed to score an early copy of Mass Effect, some reports indicate that s/he was running a pre-order bonus disc available from Best Buy.

» hey wait,

im not sure i understand the last part of this article. are you saying the suspended user of the account was suspended for playing the ME Pre-order disc??? thats not possible because I am a gamestop employee and i got the pre order disc last night and ran it fine, downloaded the content on the disc, and watched the movies. why would you get banned for running a promo disk???

Or am I just reading it wrong?
