Here's something that EA kept well under wraps until now: the separate teams who worked on FIFA 07 on PS2, Xbox, and GameCube were also the same teams that worked on the current and next-gen games. So you can be sure to find the X360 version to be very different from its PS2 and Xbox counterparts, as it does everything independent of other FIFA titles that have come before it.

Reportedly, over one hundred thousand man hours went into the creation of the game from the ground up. It will be noticed that the movement of the ball is similar, though not identical, to the current-gen game, as it is completely free and moves on its own. The Freestyle controls that we have come to be familiar with from past FIFA titles have been eliminated, and tackling might no longer be necessary to gain the ball.

The graphics, meanwhile, were said to be exceptionally detailed, and the animation, as discovered, has also been revamped. What the 360 team in Vancouver did was to implement a blend of animations instead of short individual ones. The result was that of movements flowing in near-seamless fashion, as exhibited in the interactive menu screen. As for the gameplay, it was said to feel just as good as the current-gen game's, although the ball handling with the right analog stick was found to be dramatically different.

And keeping in line with other EA Sports titles on Xbox 360, the team plans to also implement weekly ESPN podcasts, a sports ticker with ongoing scores, database updates for club transfers, and even team crests for Live avatars. FIFA 07 is scheduled for its North America release in January.
