EA explains microtransactions for Battlefield: Bad Company weapons |

The introduction of pay-to-play weaponry for the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield: Bad Company (also available on the Playstation 3) received a mixed reaction from the gaming community. To help explain things, Electronic Arts has released a statement regarding this move.In a correspondence with the MTV Multiplayer blog, EA explained that five of the initial ten weapons will be available at launch. Five retailers will be offering an "exclusive" pre-order weapon in the following months and all of them will be unlocked when the game goes live.
The remaining five weapons, however, will cost players some cash. These weapons will be bundled with the Gold Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company. If you don't fancy picking this up and just want one or two weapons, you'll be able to purchase them online.
To make sure that more competitive gamers don't feel pressured to pick up the five guns, EA clarified that the pay-to-play weapons will not unbalance the game. So before we go, here's what they had to say about it:
All weapons are balanced for gameplay. More weapons offer players more choices but do not create an advantage/disadvantage for players who do not opt to buy new item.
