Remember the ever so engrossing game Dungeon Keeper? The one where you order around your minions, carry them around and slap some sense into them with your omnipresent hand? If you enjoyed that - along with Evil Genius, then Overlord is probably the game for you.

Overlord from Triumph Studios and Codemasters will allow players to control their own personal army of Gremlin-like Minions. As the Overlord, your minions will be loyal to you - probably at a level that can be best described as crazed. They'll do everything for you: fetch loot, fight (destroy and kill), and die. With loyalty that knows no bounds, they will follow your every whim.

The Overlord can order a single minion for a task or a group of them to get a a job done. They will decide what best action to take, like order it kill a sheep and it will bring back the sheep's life force so you can make more minions. Proactive... Hmm, we like them minions. They will grow more powerful and more evil as you progress in the game. They can also strip opponents of armor or weapons for their own use.

You can control an army up to 50 minions and hundreds as reserve troops. There are four minion breeds:
  • Brown Minions - The Fighters. These are the strongest minions in general combat. They pick up equipment from defeated foes and use it - pitchforks, severed unicorn horns and the like.
  • Red Minions - The Fire Throwers. These minions are like archers who hurl blazing fireballs to defeat opponents from a distance. Also, immune to fire, they can clear dangerous paths for the rest of your horde.
  • Green Minions - The Assassins love their stealth attacks. TheyÂ’ll try to get behind an enemy, jump on its back and then stab it viciously to death - great for ambushes. TheyÂ’re also immune to poisoning and can turn rubbish left on the battlefield into upgrades.
  • Blue Minions - The Healers are the smartest of the minions and the only ones who can swim. They can also resurrect fallen minions, ready to join the fight once again.
Overlord is slated to hit the shelves in Summer of this year. So, do you have what it takes to be Overlord? That remains to be seen. While we wait for this title, you can check out the screenshots and the trailer. Enjoy!
