Dead Rising: Rising in the Charts

A lot of issues, both technical and content-related, have dogged Capcom's Dead Rising development and release as much as zombies have dogged protagonist Frank West - shrinking-text issues, censorship troubles and near-misses in Japan, Germany, and the UK, game seizure issues in the US. Based on BestBuy.com's console sales charts for the week of August 6, however, the game and the undead debuted strong and proud, pushing the New Super Mario Bros. for the DS to second place.

One could probably consider that the zombies didn't face much competition in the XBox 360 category in its August 8 release: the last full-retail 360 game released was NCAA Football '07 last July, and the next hotly-anticipated game release is Madden '07 later this month. Still, a pretty strong showing for the zombie-slashing game. And, given the delay issues game fans had to sweat out until last August 8, Capcom might be feeling rather happy over how Dead Rising has turned out.

am I the only one who HATES this game? i payed good money for it, and it bores me to death. the story is lame. the gameplay reminds me of a pokemon game, running around taking pictures of crap. and don't get me started on this 48hr mode crap... i hate this game so much. now that I think about it, i'm going to put it into the toaster and put the video on youtube. mwahahahaha

the demo sent out on xbl was horrible but if you played the game its awsome, the problem with that was that ppl assume just cuz the demo sucked the game sucked

taking pictures DOESN'T have anything to do with the whole game...you don't even need to USE your damn camera in the game...if you don't want to.

AND... hahaha... whats up with the way the douchebag walks? its like he's permanently injured or something... his walk is like he's trying to do a "flying knee" martial arts move the whole time. its ridiculous, no one walks like that.

the weapons are crap and way too powerful. hit a zombie with a garbage can and it dies? swing a park bench and kill 10 zombies? jesus, someone tell George Romero its that easy because he's got it all wrong... and since when do you not get turned into a zombie when you're bit? did they forget that?

oh and what kind of a god damn achievement is FREE FALL? I jumped off the second floor and already unlocked an achievement... that shows a lot about the depth of the game.

its a rental at best, if not a game I should have just downloaded from the newsgroups or a torrent site...

And how is simply pressing left on the D-pad to check the watch a stupid concept? I bet you Canadians would prefer a magical clock that is always on the screen, so it's a little easier for you huh?

guess you play it for a few hours...killed a few zombies...got your "freefall" achievment and put the controller down.

First. Who cares if that god guy doesnt like the game. I love it, loved the demo. And love the full game. And the 72 hour mode mkes the game so replayable. At first i was like, What the, 72 hours? But after playing again, with my level up, and my new gear. I see why they chose the 72 hour setup. It also goes hand in hand with the missions being time based.

I recently rented this BORING game. When I put the disk in, a pop-up appeared saying that my console was out of date. That I had to intall an update to play the game. So naturally I said "yes" install the update. Now my xbox 360 is scrap. The updated F#&#$ up my system. I called xbox and they told me that it was my problem. WTF. Now I have to buy a new one. PS3 rules I hope.
