A new space adventure is headed to Microsoft's console via Kalypso Media. Today they've announced DarkStar One: Broken Alliance, their summer offering for all you Xbox 360 gamers out there.
Said the press release:
"In DarkStar One: Broken Alliance, players will explore the vast reaches of space, encountering, battling and trading with six mysterious alien races in a quest to unravel the mysterious death of the protagonist’s father."
You can even choose multiple career paths: brigand, mercenary, privateer, merchant, or smuggler, to name but a few. Of course, what's a space adventure game today if you can't customize your ship?
No specific date has been given out yet, but we expect to hear more about it soon, so just keep it posted here.

While there was a cool idea for ship upgrades, ie. alien artifacts which immediately morphed your ship as you choose among three paths weapons/hull/maneuverability , the solar systems were "empty" except for 1 planet, 1 trade station, 1 mining base, and usually 1 "pirate/bad guy" mission spawn point.
Kind of cool at first, but turned boring after the 7th or 8th identical system.
Also had a very frustrating turret defense mini-game incorporated into the storyline.
