Darkness and weather as combat elements in Alan Wake |
Ó
In Alan Wake, the unsettling psychological action thriller from Remedy Entertainment published by Microsoft Game Studios for Xbox 360 and for PC, the town of Bright Falls is slowly transforming into the world of Alan Wake's nightmares.
Creatures of the night hate the light. And in this game, the days grow shorter, and shorter, and shorter. And as the light changes, the characters change - and Alan's enemies become stronger in the darkness.
Now do you understand why the screenshots show Alan rushing about during the day and walking around in twilight and darkness with a lamp or flashlight or whatever?
Also, changes in the weather affect the light, and the game renders these lighting effects very well. Alan Wake is a game of stunning environments and haunting visual effects.
It's really a big interactive suspense thriller. There's no multiplayer mode. It's just you losing sleep as you go through episode after episode in this story as it builds up to what we all know will be a shocking ending.

why do you guys always go on about multiplayer modes? some people actually prefer playing single player games, especially if they spend their working hours talking to *****s.
Surely it's not such a big deal that you have to mention it every time you talk about games when they are obviously going to be single player only
This game has stunning graphics I hope the gameplay is as good to.
Regarding Online the thing that makes me want the games even more is knowing that you have the online option once you have finished or got bored in a single player game.
this game doesn't become one of those "we need more time; therefore, we will be delaying it for a little longer" game. Same goes for Mass Effect.
this game was meant to be a release title but got put bak 3 times to 2008 if it comes out then
We are stressing that there is no multiplayer mode so people understand that this is the kind of game that does not need it. As we said, this game is just you and the darkness. No running around maps in multiplayer. No chatting with others... And we are so excited over this game - it looks stunning, and every new bit of news that comes in makes us believe more and more that this is a single-player STORY-driven masterpiece of psychological horror worth trying out and buying.
the longer it takes them to develop the better it will be. i hate it when people get selfish and are like 'i want my game now, now now now!!" and then they release it and its crap (take Splinter Cell Double Agent for example). So they should take all the time they need to make this one badass game.
