Crysis... for 360? (Which "isn't" Crysis for the PC)

Ó

Great, now you want the 360 to render THIS, don't you?(Was drinking water, saw the subject matter of this article, and spat all the water out in shock) No plans of porting Crysis to next-gen consoles, Kim Jong-Il's nuked hind quarters! Well, surprise, surprise, someone's telling 1UP on the 1UP show that they're bringing a Crysis game to the Xbox 360 after all...or are they? Here's the catch, though: (a) It won't be the PC game. And (b) it won't be at a D3D10 G80 D-HIDR8 graphics quality.

Both Xboxic and Crysis-Online have posted up summaries of the Crysis 360 (not-so) port. We've also had a listen to the 1UP podcast ourselves - it begins with a reference to comparing Age of Conan D3D10 PC to Age of Conan DX9 Xbox 360 during CES... and then segues right into the surprise: "And with Crysis, the 360 game is not going to be the same game..." The presumption is that the guy saying that's a Crytek dev, based on what Xboxic said, but the entire 1UP podcast is long, covers so much ground, we kinda couldn't ID the voices themselves anymore.

Anyway, what he meant by "not the same game" was that it wouldn't focus much on the graphics (which would be the D3D10 PC's cachet) as it would on the gameplay. There's also the hint that the 360 Crysis would take place in the same universe as the PC Crysis - Fabula Nova Crysis, perhaps?

The only thing missing before we blow this report from Rumor to News is the official press release from Crytek... or EA. You see, Crysis-Online thinks that the 1UP guys must have mixed up the discussion of the 360 Conan with their Crysis talk. The dialogue did seem to indicate a separate Crysis game, but like we said: no press release yet. Unless this is... an inadvertent leak. Is it?

it's not really that great that they are dumbing down this game. I mean that is what set it apart from the others.

sounds like it will a game 'from the Crysis universe' - and PS3 doesn't have enough users yet.

sounds like EA is going to be gay like ubisoft and turn a good game into a console sellout where you jump around like a monkey senselessly killing people.

It's really no surprise that the graphics would be dumbed down, the 360's gpu just doesn't support alot of the features dx10 has.

I explained my reasons why the ATi chip in the Xbox360 just cant handle a true DX10 game and this is just one proof.

48 shaders is hardly enough power to render in 720p.

It seems its just a game set in the same universe which could mean anything. most likely another shooter, but in the end, it comes down to the disappointment and the waste of time they will be putting to make the game since people will compare it to the PC version.

Its a good thing the Crysis PC game will stay on the PC, I would hate to have the game use Xbox Live since that would totally ruin PC games.

ps3 isnt better, quit being a fanboy. if anything ps3 is equal to slightly worse than a 360. besides, youre gonna have to get used to all the games coming to 360, its easier to develop for and has a larger user base since the ps3 is still so expensive. no one forced you to buy a ps3, that's your own fault.

um quit being a fanboy both of you..... we dont know which 1 is more superior considering know 1 has seen ether system at full potential and 2nd im pretty sure theyre going to make this a multi platform game for both 360 and ps3 or 2 individual agmes that have same envirnment as crysis considering about a few months ago when ppl 1st reported Crysis for the consoles they kept saying they were looking for both 360 and ps3 developers

"48 shaders is hardly enough power to render in 720p"

So what does that say about ps3 with 32, NON dynamic pipelines ?

Anyways, I really didn't see anything overly spectacular graphics wise from the video i've seen online of cyrsis.

The things the 360 can't handle are all of the physics calculations taking place. Like dust that is affected by explosions and a global wind system...It can probably do the destructabe trees tho....

They will not make a whole new game for 360. If they are smart they will use the same story and basic engine...get rid of some of the dx10 shaders we wouldn't notice and the global wind and other too physics heavy functions, then release the product...

I was reading your post up until you said "know 1".

After reading that horrid spelling i gathered that the rest of your post would be nonsense.

The PS3 will have as much difficulty as the 360 and for numerous reasons (including the fact that both consoles only have 512MB memory).

About a year or so ago, when gamers where speculating on whether Crysis will come to next-gen consoles, Crytek made it clear that it will never happen.

Instead, Crytek are bringing their next-gen GAME ENGINE to next-gen consoles, optimizing the engine for each console, and THEN using that engine to produce a next-gen console game.

In otherwords, they have no intension of creating lazy PC PORTS for 360 and PS3, but instead, will use their game engine to create the best CONSOLE games they can.

Crytek should be applauded for this approach by all 360 and PS3 gamers, instead of having idiots like you who uses every opportunity available to bash the 360. :|

in my opinion this is payback for far cry. Far Cry was originally a PC title. then it went to the 360 and you guys got like 5 other versions of it that we never saw on the PC.

So this is payback. now we get the good crysis and you guys get the crappy one. lol.

And if that Xbox360 2 comes out maybe it'll support DX10.

many ppl forget that some ppl don't have a decent pc to play that, or don't have many to spend monthly in new hardware

like me.

my pc is new bad is a litle bit weak to support the game

but i have a 360 to play games with quality and some good visuals

i will be very happy when this game arrive to 360

and i dont care if will be in dx9 or dx10, because will be playable, what will not haapen in my pc

# consoles have always had the crappy versionPyro 2007-01-14 09:24
consoles have always had the *****ty versions of far cry. ubisoft made them dumb down the ***** out of that game into some gay game where you leap around like a monkey. Same goes for all the tom clancy games, except they even brought over the *****tiness to the pc in lockdown and vegas.

My 360 plays games at least 10 times better then any $400 dollar PC will play them.....then the games get better as times goes on and I don't have to pay an extra penny....I got out of the gamming PC race a looooong time ago....I don't have the extra money to blow on a new vidcard/physx card/cpu every time a new game comes out....

# PC wins, Always.Guest 2007-01-14 19:01
The 'Next gen' Consoles lost the graphics race before they even came out. Computer games already look better and by the time developers figure out how to milk every last drop of power out of the consoles PC hardware will have advanced far beyond yet again.

I'm sure there will be a 360/PS3 port sometime in the future maybe in a few years and it will probably look pretty darn close to the PC version but it will not be as good.

Consoles are a great alternative to people not willing to dish out thousands of dollars every 2-3 years on a new rig. Though you cant ever expect to win in the graphics department.

# PC specificationsGuest 2007-01-14 22:57
Games will always look better on PC's that cost 5-10times as much as console's do. As an owner of both machines, frankly I'd be upset if PC's didn't.

However, if you take a look at the valve hardware survey from Nov 2006, of nearly 900K PC's surveyed, its only the top 15 percent'ish of PC owners whose PC's would currently generate a better looking Crysis than a 360.

Its going to be another 2 years before the specification of the 'average' (if that exisits!) PC owned will be comparable to a 360.

1024x768 is currently the most popular resolution, Geforce 6600 the most popular card with 75% of users having 512mb of ram or less.
