Crysis... for 360? (Which "isn't" Crysis for the PC) |

Ó
(Was drinking water, saw the subject matter of this article, and spat all the water out in shock) No plans of porting Crysis to next-gen consoles, Kim Jong-Il's nuked hind quarters! Well, surprise, surprise, someone's telling 1UP on the 1UP show that they're bringing a Crysis game to the Xbox 360 after all...or are they? Here's the catch, though: (a) It won't be the PC game. And (b) it won't be at a D3D10 G80 D-HIDR8 graphics quality. Both Xboxic and Crysis-Online have posted up summaries of the Crysis 360 (not-so) port. We've also had a listen to the 1UP podcast ourselves - it begins with a reference to comparing Age of Conan D3D10 PC to Age of Conan DX9 Xbox 360 during CES... and then segues right into the surprise: "And with Crysis, the 360 game is not going to be the same game..." The presumption is that the guy saying that's a Crytek dev, based on what Xboxic said, but the entire 1UP podcast is long, covers so much ground, we kinda couldn't ID the voices themselves anymore.
Anyway, what he meant by "not the same game" was that it wouldn't focus much on the graphics (which would be the D3D10 PC's cachet) as it would on the gameplay. There's also the hint that the 360 Crysis would take place in the same universe as the PC Crysis - Fabula Nova Crysis, perhaps?
The only thing missing before we blow this report from Rumor to News is the official press release from Crytek... or EA. You see, Crysis-Online thinks that the 1UP guys must have mixed up the discussion of the 360 Conan with their Crysis talk. The dialogue did seem to indicate a separate Crysis game, but like we said: no press release yet. Unless this is... an inadvertent leak. Is it?

It's really no surprise that the graphics would be dumbed down, the 360's gpu just doesn't support alot of the features dx10 has.

48 shaders is hardly enough power to render in 720p.
It seems its just a game set in the same universe which could mean anything. most likely another shooter, but in the end, it comes down to the disappointment and the waste of time they will be putting to make the game since people will compare it to the PC version.
Its a good thing the Crysis PC game will stay on the PC, I would hate to have the game use Xbox Live since that would totally ruin PC games.

So what does that say about ps3 with 32, NON dynamic pipelines ?
Anyways, I really didn't see anything overly spectacular graphics wise from the video i've seen online of cyrsis.
The things the 360 can't handle are all of the physics calculations taking place. Like dust that is affected by explosions and a global wind system...It can probably do the destructabe trees tho....
They will not make a whole new game for 360. If they are smart they will use the same story and basic engine...get rid of some of the dx10 shaders we wouldn't notice and the global wind and other too physics heavy functions, then release the product...

After reading that horrid spelling i gathered that the rest of your post would be nonsense.

About a year or so ago, when gamers where speculating on whether Crysis will come to next-gen consoles, Crytek made it clear that it will never happen.
Instead, Crytek are bringing their next-gen GAME ENGINE to next-gen consoles, optimizing the engine for each console, and THEN using that engine to produce a next-gen console game.
In otherwords, they have no intension of creating lazy PC PORTS for 360 and PS3, but instead, will use their game engine to create the best CONSOLE games they can.
Crytek should be applauded for this approach by all 360 and PS3 gamers, instead of having idiots like you who uses every opportunity available to bash the 360. :|

So this is payback. now we get the good crysis and you guys get the crappy one. lol.
And if that Xbox360 2 comes out maybe it'll support DX10.

I'm sure there will be a 360/PS3 port sometime in the future maybe in a few years and it will probably look pretty darn close to the PC version but it will not be as good.
Consoles are a great alternative to people not willing to dish out thousands of dollars every 2-3 years on a new rig. Though you cant ever expect to win in the graphics department.

However, if you take a look at the valve hardware survey from Nov 2006, of nearly 900K PC's surveyed, its only the top 15 percent'ish of PC owners whose PC's would currently generate a better looking Crysis than a 360.
Its going to be another 2 years before the specification of the 'average' (if that exisits!) PC owned will be comparable to a 360.
1024x768 is currently the most popular resolution, Geforce 6600 the most popular card with 75% of users having 512mb of ram or less.
