Chris Lewis, the VP of Interactive Entertainment at Microsoft Europe, has done the unexpected: he stood up for his company's machine. No wait, that's totally expected.

In an interview with trade magazine MCV, Lewis said that the Xbox 360's upcoming release lineup contains cross-platform titles that "will just work better on Xbox Live". He doesn't seem to expound, but let's remember that Live's been around longer and is more established than the competition.

Aside from the cross-platform games, Lewis also said that Microsoft has some key exclusives lined up for the months through to Christmas. He also emphasized content and networking, saying that Microsoft has "more content partnerships for Xbox Live."

» well

besides lack of people online, I don't see a difference in online play between PSN and Xbox Live, but I'm also not that picky.. if I can log onto a game and play it online, I'm good, I don't wanna pay for that.. and of COURSE a Microsoft executive is going to say that Xbox Live is good for cross platform releases, if he said otherwise then he'd be an idiot

He's really desperate to come up with any reason to praise the 360 and all he can come up with are some vague statements. Let's just be honest, at this point Sony is doing everything right and all Microsoft has to compete right now is a gta iv expansion pack, a $60 Halo 3 expansion pack, a $60 Left 4 Dead expansion pack, and Modern Warfare 2 timed exclusive dlc. Most people would agree that xbox live has more features but that's cause you pay for it and it's highly exaggerated how much better it is then psn. On a 1-10 rating xbox live is a 10 and psn is a 9. Your not gonna pick up a game on ps3 and regret it because it "works better on xbox live". I think Microsoft should have taken those 50 mill they payed Rockstar for exclusive dlc and done like Sony by putting it into first party development.

Until this guy can explain his reasons for this, his comment is meaningless

» Hmmm

I'd rather have a more blurry version of Ghostbusters or a little less smoke in Resident Evil 5 than miss out on Uncharted 2 and God of War 3.

And when you look at games like Batman Arkham Asylum, even the multiplatform argument gets a bit shaky.

» Its a simple half truth

Some games can perform better because the developers are more familiar with PC software, like the game Rage. But for the most part its not really true. If thats their argument to buy a 360 over a PS3 then it kinda fails.

» I think...

What he meant to say was that cross platform games work better on XBL because they charge for their service, but still put in paid commercial advertisements into their online play. That adds tons to the gameplay experience for the gamer.

» Live is better

I wish I had to pay 50 dollars a year for XBL. :(

Actually, when I owned a 360 I had actually spent three months of XBL to play two games online. Dead or Alive 4 and Halo 3. With all the other multi console games I've played, I haven't noticed a difference in quality. I later sold the 360 because it's rare there's an exclusive on that system I like.

On the PS360 which has better multiconsole titles. There are some games like Ghostbusters which are clearly a win for the 360. However, like someone else mentioned, games like Batman Arkham Asylum(amazing game,) GTA4, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry 4, and many many others, that are hardly even noticeable unless you're really looking for it.

A couple other problems with games that are multiconsole. Due to the DVD size, games are limited to 720p even for PS3 owners because the creators want to be fair to 360 users since they have a worse system and format. Sure the 360 upscales if you have a compatible tv and the PS3 doesn't have many 1080p games either, but I'm sure the PS3 has suffered because of the 360 format.
