On a particularly humorous thread over at the crackdownoncrime forums, it is revealed that the demo for Crackdown will hit the XBL Marketplace on Tuesday (the 23rd) at 2 a.m. Pacific time. This information comes from Agent G., a member of the said forums. If you're a fan of the game and you're eagerly awaiting the release of the demo, then this is good news for you.

Major Nelson confirms this and writes in his blog that the demo will be available for Xbox Live Gold members next Tuesday January 23. To follow up on this great news, Microsoft Game Studios has just announced that Crackdown has gone gold. From developer Realtime Worlds and the mind of acclaimed creator Dave Jones, Crackdown is poised to raid retail throughout North America on Feb. 20.

We'll keep you updated if there are any further developments regarding Crackdown. Stay tuned.

» Interesting game

I watched the videos of it and it seems like one of those games thats fun for a while, then you get sick of it, But later on you come back and say "Hey!!!, I remember this game and that time I did this to that"

Then you pop it in again, play it for a while, get tired of it and later on do it again.

I dont see this game having alot of long-term replay value. Because the game doesn't seem to have any real objective. Sure you try and kill the boss but thats just not good enough for a long worth while game.

This game probably needs those Halo3 beta keys to get "more" people to play it in order to provide a large enough user base so that co-op is feasible on a regular basis. But then again I think this game can easily be ruined by immature people who are out there just to ruin the experience for everyone else.

Its just me, but this is one of those games I will probably only co-op with people I know. So far Xbox Live is saturated with thousands of players who ruin experiences for everyone else. Hopefully this game wont feel it too bad.

» Don't you get it guys

Maybe this game didn't come out as expected and that is why

they delayed the demo. Not only that, but that will give M$ time so people can preorder this game just because of Halo 3.

» Well...

That sounds like any "gta like game"....and this one is GTA + throwing cars and leaping tall buildings in a single bound...

I also like how they have made a comic book type rendering engine, and the explosions look sweet....

We have to remember that the entire purpose of mario was to chase fake bosses until you got to the real boss.....

Unfortunately i'm not a fan of the GTA type game, and if I got this it would be for a distraction, and of course the halo 3 beta key....since it seems they are not accepting me through any other manner (conspiracy anyone???!?!?!?!?)

» ...

I think GoW stole the thunder from everything for the next few months.

I wouldn't even think of buying this game, and with the halo 3 beta i'm only thinking about it, but still probably won't.

I seriously think GoW rock halo as far as game mechanics go....if you want to play a rushy, arcade type game, ala halo, you can, but if you want to pop, stop, run, pop, run, survey, pop, run, blast.....then you can also do that....

GoW 2 will destroy all if they flesh out the multiplayer and add some vehicles...

» Better than any Film Buffs games though

I bet it still plays better than any of the few games they have on the film Buffs console which can also play some games aka PS3.

» yay

Halle-*****in-lujia! I have been waiting for the demo of this game since way back when this game was first announced.

Oh and guy at the top. I think everygame will end up like that...put it down after a while and then pick it back up again just for old times sake...I still do that with Perfect Dark Zero, and I have been doing that with GoW.

But I dont think the fun of going on co-op with a buddy and chuckin cars and people and other random ***** at each other will die very quickly.

» Ummm yeah

"the game doesn't seem to have any real objective. Sure you try and kill the boss but thats just not good enough for a long worth while game"

It was the same in GTA, remember how fun that was? Remember how long you played that? Well, I played it for awhile, not sure about you.

If Crackdown can pull off the whole mayhem and killing thing like GTA 3 and Vice City did (San Andreas, even with its planes, kinda sucks), then it'll be popular for a while to come, especially with Xbox Live MP and co-op.

I'll admit that the H3 beta key probably made me jump the gun and preorder it, but I saw videos of this game and thought it looked cool long before that was announced. I probably would've bought it anyway
