Hoping to get theirs - Image 1Remember Oscar? The dog that chewed his master's Xbox 360 controller all the way into buying 60 bucks worth of Microsoft points? Well, word got around, and Microsoft found the story so amusing that they're giving the dog a refund, a Gamertag, and a few more goodies to chew on.

Microsoft sent the news over to Kotaku where the story broke:

I saw you wrote a story on the guy whose dog bought Xbox LIVE points. People spend tens of billions of dollars on their pets every year, but it's pretty unusual for your pet to return the favor (except in love and tail wagging of course ). One lucky pet owner in Richmond, Virginia, though has a pet who really cares. Greg Strope's dog purchased 5,000 Xbox LIVE points while the guy slept. Luckily for Greg, Microsoft is refunding his LIVE points and providing extra for good measure. Plus he will get an extra controller and a LIVE subscription for his dog, Oscar. We also created a gamertag for Oscar so that he doesn't feel left out anymore!

Well, Oscar did give Xbox Live some fun publicity, so Microsoft gives him his own Gamertag and more as way of thanks. If you care to add him up, it's Oscar The K9.

The lesson? The next time you get anything via Xbox Live, blame it on your pooch and post it on the internet.

» lol.

It's not like it cost MS much anyway. The points and subscription to LIVE has no value what so ever to them, they merely apply a value to them for customers. Like Glenn says, free publicity and all they have pay is the cost to make a controller. Win win there
