Console Word War: MS Thrashes PS3 and Wii Again (What Else Is New?) |
Ó
While the actual Next-gen Console War is yet to begin (the two remaining electronic gladiators aren't even in the ring yet), the console trash talking has been on-going for quite sometime now. And here is the latest from the MS corner. In an interview with MCV, Microsoft’s Richard Teversham dismissed the launch plans of rivals Sony and Nintendo casting doubt on the MS competitors' ability to launch their consoles in Europe within the year. Although he acknowledged Sony's loyal consumers, he said Sony was abusing its fan base by selling the PS3s at £425. “The question is: When are they going to drop the price? I think a lot of gamers out there are going to be saying ‘I’ll wait for the price to drop,’ or even better they’ll buy a 360,” he says.
Meanwhile he describes the Wii as "almost a GameCube with a DVD drive" and wonders if Nintendo will have enough quantity to satisfy the demand.
As for the Xbox 360, Teversham promised a number of surprises and said they will continue to provide a variety of pricing on games and a variety of pricing on console offers. (But no price cut.) Zune, the iPod Killer, also got dragged into the scene. Teversham said the launch of the Zune will have a lot of noise around it and will be part of Microsoft's master plan to bring together communities on devices like Xbox, Zune and PC.
At this point we'd like to sit back and wait for the executive catfight to begin Round 173. We swear it's almost as good as Rumble Roses XX.

i have 3 friends who are sony fan boys or should i say were sony fan boys they wouldent lay there hands on an xbox in their life but asoon as they saw the price of the ps3 they immediatly said ill get a 360 instead it's cheaper and the games look good.
I'll be waiting for the price drop, £425 is too much. In the meantime I'll be enjoying my Xbox360 and my Wii.
So he just couldn't bash Sony, could he? This is Microsoft, ladies and gentlemen.
That said, I'm wondering about pricedrop too. Sony can't wait for long this time around with it as they did with PS2..
you know , i heard major nelsons podcast one time and it was kind of derogatory of the ps3 and these xbox guys seem to think that they gain support by doing this kind of petty name calling but it works just the opposite on me.
everytime i hear someone from microsoft trash talk i keep thinking 'is the device i own so much inferior that this is all microsoft can do , name calling ? while wearing a suit and having grey hair?'
really...i may have wasted money on this console because the onlky decent game they've got is call of duty 2.
anyway im gonna wait till gears of war and call of duty 3 and if they dont hook me im just gonna get a modchip and play iso's....cos, well..i wanna be on thier level.
If the only games you like are shooters, how is the 360's games inferior to any other console's? Both the PlayStation and Nintendo consoles are never big on shooters.
And this is hardly trash talk, it's just correct. Every person I have asked is either waiting for a price drop or not buying it at all, myself included.
What a loser.
Sony can wait as long as they want for a price-drop. Coz fact is, if someone wants a PS3.. they'll buy a ps3 regardless of price.. it'll just take longer to save.
I really don't think Sony care if 10 million people don't buy it. Coz it'll take Nintendo and Microsoft light years to reach the fan base of playstation. The end.
If you don't want one, don't buy one.. but theres no reason to suggest that the Wii, or 360 is better because you can afford to buy one. And at the moment, there is also no reason to suggest that the PS3 is better than the Wii and 360.. no one knows...
Bring on the games !!! WOOO!!
playstations fanbase is not as big as you think.
#7 are you stupid or something? Did you not see 100 million plus units sold for both the PS1 and PS2. How many XBox consoles and 360's were sold compared to the PS2? Look up the numbers and shut your F****** mouth.
Anyway, Microsoft needs to worry about them damn selves instead of talking S*** about others. Sony and Nintendo have been here for years serving gamers. Now Microsoft comes with a XBox and a 360 and think they can talk S***. The 360 has a year lead on Sony and Nintendo and has shipped 5 million units "but" only sold about 3.2 million. What makes them think they can talk S*** with those numbers? Both of their consoles are financial failures to them and they continue to worry about others. They can't even get the 360 estalished well in Japan. The 360 was only made to bring down the PS2 not the PS3. Why do you think the XBox lasted only 4 years? It was a failure and couldn't stand up to the PS2 in sales. Microsoft doesn't understand the fanbase of Sony or Nintendo to the fullest degree. It's clear to me they haven't heard what Sony did to Sega. History will repeat itself if this keeps up.
Finally, the Zune will fail. People aren't going to suddenly drop their iPods and get a Zune. They won't win this battle against Apple.
Sorry dude, but Sega is a far cry from Microsoft. It's not possible for a company like Sony to force a company with near-infinite money like Microsoft into making only software. History will not repeat itself, and if you've read any of those analyst's predictions, they're predicting it will be Sony who will be bougth up or gone completely by 2014, nevermind just forced out of the videgame hardware business.
And it's hard to tell if this MS media player will fail this far ahead. With Microsoft's advertising power, if they can convince people their player is obviously better than the iPod (there are already a lot of players that are, but their manufacturers don't have the advertising power MS has, and people are stupid and don't do any reaserch for themselves), then people will switch.
I'm tired of all the stupid idiots complaining about the price of the PS3. Look at it this way. The PS3 will cost roughly 200$ more than the xbox 360. So for that initial 500$, your getting a system that is on par, if not better than the 360. Ok so that leaves us 200$ that we can alocate for the cost of a blueray drive. A stand alone blueray player will cost you 800$+. So that 200$ blueray player looks like a pretty sweet deal.
Another thing. Remember when they said that no xbox 360 games will require a HDD, well guess what, Microsoft lied. Soon they'll release games where you will be forced to buy a stupid HD-DVD player and that cost you another 200$. Oh look at that, now you have crappier system that cost as much the PS3.
