As you might've guessed, the Capcom-Microsoft teasing was indeed all about Monster Hunter Frontier Online, an upcoming Xbox 360 port of the MMO from the PC. It's on its way to Japan, and to help get it off the ground, Microsoft is offering extras that you might find tempting.

According to ever-reliable Famitsu, players will need Hunter Life Course Coupons to login and play. Each of these coupons is priced at ¥1,400 (US$ 15), the price of the PC release, and is valid for 30 days. Apart from the ticket to play, the coupons will also give players 30 days of Xbox Live Gold Membership. Very nice.

Hmmm, hard to say how well it will work.

I am sure all the people that want to play it are already doing so on their PC's, which tend to be better for MMO's anyways.

Unless the 360 version has some serious improvements or unique features. What would be the incentive to buy a 360 to play the same game you could on a PC you already own?

I guess we'll never have another Free2Play Console Monster Hunter now, huh? :[
I remember the good ol' PS2 days when it was free.

All they could give them is a free 30 day trial on xbox gold and then after that it'll cost them even more to continue playing the game (considering that it is online). They should have just bundled it with the 12 month membership and discounted it so at least they know what their in for.

I don't see why it couldn't be on the PS3. One, it started there and Two (MOST IMPORTANTLY) I don't want to have to pay for xbox live and monster hunter... Tried with Final Fantasy XI and regret it.... I ended up spending 50+ every 3 months...

NTSC doesnt matter on the PS3, meaning it could easily be imported and played world-wide... Then again, they did ban people they found out were US/EU citizens...

you could play FFXI on the 360 with just a silver membership, they confirmed that when they released the game.

I bought the PS3 for Monster Hunter 3 after I got addicted on Monster Hunter Freedom 2.......and later Capcom jumps boat and develops MH3 for the wii which was suppose to come out for the PS3.........Capcom is kicking Sony in the ballz as well as me again and ignoring all the players waiting for some version of Monster Hunter to come out on PS3 and instead it lands right on xbox turf where no one really gives a sh;T about anything but FPS there.........Hell will freeze over first before I'll ever buy a xbox and knowing its history it'll break in about 2 week to 2 months which won't make up for any free xbox live crap

its just how business works... PS3 was hard to develop for so they moved to an easier and more profitable console, and Microsoft is still trying to win Japan over, so they probably paid quite I bit to get MHF transferred, and sucks to hear you won't be able to play the game, I personally could not get into it, no matter how many times I tried, the lack of a targeting system coupled with weapon durability just couldn't do it for me, I don't know its just something about weapon durability that just kills it for me in games, I understand it makes it more real, doesn't mean I like it though.

what are developers doing switching consoles?

this bullshit has got to go! going multiplatform okay, but just hopping to another console wtf is this frogger shit.

alos look at square enix for example: ff1+2 remade for the psp/ps1 ff3+4 remade for the ds. crappy spinoffs on the nintendo consoles. only one ff13 game on the 360.

i mean what the F**K is up with this inconsistency?

tl;dr game companies acting like sluts

Why do you care for a remake of a game? Or do you wish FF1(NES) then it's remake on the same system? Can't deal with it? Then just buy what you want to play... Most of the games you've mentioned don't have a continuing story anyways..

Why released a popular game in japan in a not popular console there? The game here is not as popular as Japan so I wonder how will it do...and to be honest I feel there was no no need for an announcement that is not that impressive...just another MHF game...

Xbox- Popular in USA and not in Japan.
Monster Hunter - Popular in Japan and not in US.

I understand if they released it for both consoles in Japan but not in the US, but this is just stupid in my opinion.

ever since DMC4,RE5,SF4 has been ported to 360, i dont think is strange that MH will be ported out as well, but if Capcom porting out Frontier (JAP for PC) into 360, there's one possibility that i can assume.

Capcom is targeting US/EU. But i wont go for it. It just ridiculous. Its getting more and more expensive playing online, internet fee, subscription on Live and Capcom server, the game itself.

To me it seems like our oh so friendly capcom is sending a massage to sony. That massage being we can jump ship if we want. There are two other systems out there. But one thing seems to be a promised to sony when it comes to mon hun and that being the psp version. Lets us xbox owner face it. There will never be a Xportable. DS please lets pray that capcom goes that far.
I got all 3 so im good ether way. :P

when MS deems it profitable (and by profitable i mean the price of manufacturing comparable to selling) they will make a handheld. As for capcom, they've dropped a lot of older games that could rake in a decent bit for new IP that is so-so in my opinion (Breath of Fire, Megaman Legends anyone?)

# Monthly Fee?sammyboy0120 2010-02-01 19:02
I think it's lame to charge an additional online fee on top of what we already pay for Xbox Live. If I shell out $50 for a year of Live, which is just $10 shy of a brand new game, I should not have to spend an additional $15 each month to play this. Some people can't afford to have a job to pay for this while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I'd be more than happy to pay for a 360 iteration of Monster Hunter similar to those on the PSP without the additional fee, but not like this.
