Codec Problems After Xbox 360 Dashboard Updates? |

More and more problems are being discovered about the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update. This time out, the problem that Xbox archives found was with the Halo 3 Trailer. By the end of the Halo 3 video, as Cortana speaks, "This is the way the world ends", the screen is normally totally black. With the update, the screen now displays a big bright dot.
The same problem was encountered when the video was played on Windows XP Media Player. This seems to imply that Microsoft has implemented the latest WindowsXP Media Player codecs into the 2006 Xbox 360 updates. If this is true, it means that the codec problems of WinXP has also been adapted by the Xbox 360 dashboard updates.
The video above, which shows the problem at play time 00:08, was already sent to Microsoft. When the person who found out about this problem inquired with Microsoft, the only answer he got was "The WMP team is already working on it..."

No console to this date has features the 360 has.

Best comment ever, because I guess that little white dot in a preview video just *****ed up Microsoft's world.
Also I think this hardly counts as anything other than a very minor annoyance. So far I havent had any problems with the update, and I hardly call a white dot in a video I watched twice to be a console defeating error

A lot of problems arise from user error. Like the "scratched disk issue" Well duuhh, don't move your freaking xbox while the drive is spinning.

Said by a true MS fanboy. I happen to have both Playstation 2 and xbox 360. The reason that MS offer these "updates" for free is because they feel they have to. They release them with a few extra features that are visible and hundreds of extra features that are bug fixes. I know for certain that the early playstations were far from bug free and sony took note of that by releasing new hardware that fixed the problems. MS on the other hand think all problems can be forgotten with a little sugar coating from an update. I'm not saying sony are innocent either i mean look at the psp with its updates although these aren't to fix problems that stop people enjoying the handheld it fixes problems in security and adds new features. I'm sure the ps3 will be just as bug ridden as the 360 and will have the ms fanboys laughing then.

so sony releases all new hardware that you have to rebuy, but MS releases an update that you can just download. wow microsoft sure is stupid.
and sony is always releasing updates for their psp, secrurity issues and bugs. 2.6 was VERY unstable and crashed alot. and 2.7 came out and not long after they released 2.71 because 2.7 had bugs.
