CliffyB on Gears of War's next update: "::respawning::" |
Ó
People have been talking about the update for Gears of War that will be released. In one thread on the Epic Games forums, some people were talking about what the new "Annex" gameplay would be like. After a few conjectures were tossed around, in pops CliffyB with a very mysterious message. He simply posted "::respawning::" and left. CliffyB can be pretty tight-lipped regarding the update, but the tidbits he occasionally drops are enough to drive GoW fans crazy.
Now, does this mean that respawning will be available? If "Annex" is a territory grabbing game (like king of the hill, domination, or heck even CTF) then respawning is pretty much a given. Others have said that perhaps respawning would apply to the new multiplayer maps that will be in the update.
Well, we'll find out more about the new update when it's released. For now you can check out our previous coverage on the update to find out more about it.

Now this will be soooooo much more interesting
spawn killing u can only spawn from 2 points in each map. people kill of u u stay there with their chainsaws revved run and cut run and cut or how about being killed behind ur bak GOW should never have respawns...people complain about respawns bcuz they suck and cant stay alive long enough to win a match so they complain to have it longer and drawn out this is so gay if they do i swear im trading it in next day...
http://gearsofwar.com/News/New+Game+Type.htm
Says exactly how Annex is set up and that the update is to be released on the 9th....
This is horrible! Ryan nailed it on the head, there will be nothing but spawn camping I will not play it.
Respawn + Gears = Gay
gears = gay
stupid...
they aren't changing anything that was already there, they're just adding. So you can stay with your horrible 5 minute matches while I go and buy the game to play the half hour match I've been wanting for so long.
that's not very intelligent..
just play the other 3 modes available if you don't want to deal with respawning. and its not spawn camping will be much help as your team doesn't get points from making kills.
how bout BOTH of u are are?
All the ppl who are posting this rubbish either don't have Gears of War or always get owned online.
Hey the 19 round matches easily last over 45mins and its awesome.
OMG i used the word awesome...that shows you how good it is.
Gears of War online = Awesome
Call of duty 2 and 3 have random spawn points so why can't gears of war.
If you don't like respawns go play those other boring gametypes. I'll stick with Annex.
BTW most games with respawns have RANDOM respawns, no spawn camping. Or you get invincibility so you can just kill all the ******et spawn campers, Gears will be no different.
Next up: standard deathmatch. Show me the money Epic!
What I find more interesting than a normal re-spawn, is that it says re-spawns are in 15-second waves, which doesnt sound like its based on when the individual dies. This pretty much eliminates any spawn-camping, since if one guy is waiting, and 2 or more get killed in the 15-sec time-slot, he hs going to wish he were somewhere else.
Idiots *****ing about spawn camping have to realise a few things....
One, warzone will not have re-spawns.
Two, this will only be applicable to "Annex"
Three, spawn points can be altered, moved, added, removed or randomized.....meaning it's not neccesarly going to be spawn at opposite ends of the map...
Four, your a whiner....
Maybe Annex IS a kind of conquer kind of thing. But with respawning, what if they made it where in this mode, you switch teams, or you can switch teams at respawn. IDK i hope its cool tho.
Gears of Warâ„¢ Gears Up With A New Game Type
What's old and new and red all over? That would be Gears of War, once a new multiplayer game type is released by way of a download from Xbox LIVE® on April 9. Read on to get the specs on the new way to enjoy a game you already love, and then hop online to experience multiplayer all over again!
Annex
Objective: Capture and hold key locations to collect enough points to win the round.
Description: In Annex, you win by keeping control over key map locations, or objectives, long enough to collect a winning number of points. Every map has two to five identified objectives available for capture, with one objective active at a time. Objectives are based on map weapon-spawn locations and have a potential value of 60 points toward either team’s score. Teams collect those points by maintaining ownership of an objective until all its 60 points have been distributed. Every second that a team controls an objective, the team gets one point. When an objective falls to zero points, the next objective is selected at random.
On the HUD, the current objective appears below the team scores at top left. This indicator contains several pieces of relevant information. The weapon icon inside the circle indicates which weapon-spawn location is being used as the objective. The compass along the outer edge of the circle shows the relative direction to the objective. The number inside the circle indicates how many points remain at that objective and the background icon color indicates which team currently controls it. No color means the objective awaits capture, a red icon means the Locust Horde hold the objective and a blue icon means the COG hold it. When the icon in the indicator circle fills, the corresponding team's score also changes color, the team begins collecting points from the objective, and the point value of the objective drops.
On the map, a projected ring marks the physical location and boundaries of the objective in the world. The ring's color indicates the current captor: White means neutral, blue COG, and red Locust. To capture an objective, players must stand inside the glowing ring uncontested for a short period of time. How long depends on how many teammates stand in the ring at once. One player can capture an objective in eight seconds, two players in four seconds, three players in two seconds, and four players in one second. Once a team takes an objective, they are not required to remain inside the ring to maintain ownership. The captured objective's points drain until an opposing team member enters the ring, or until its points fall to zero.
Round scores can be set as low as 120 points or as high as 480 points. The first team to reach the target score wins the round.
Respawns: Infinite, wave-based every 15 seconds.
Options:
Selected Map: Which map or series of maps to use.
Number of Rounds: Number of rounds required to win the match.
Bleed-out Duration: Amount of time before a player dies while DBNO.
Round Score: Number of points required to win a round.
Friendly Fire: In a player match, whether teammates can damage each other.
Private Slots: In a player match, number of player slots reserved for friend invites.
Weapons Swapped: In a player match, whether the person who sets up the match can determine whether weapons that appear in the maps are replaced or removed.
Updates:
Annex became available as a Gears of War multiplayer game mode in the April 9 update.
whoever is talking crap about respawn obviously have not played HALO2 online or they just suck @ GOW and always get their aZZ handed to them online.
... yeah go ahead and trade it in cuz they added an "option"
I think this is great. It will change the entire gameplay on online matches, instead of playing smart and covertly, people will just most likely run in with the shut gun and hope for the best. This will be awesome, now it'll be easier getting the Seriously... achievement
this is a great mode to grab weapon achievements,ho w many kills could one get after playing just one 10 minute round of annex? add 19 rounds to that and you've got a mega simple way to nab those gamerpoints,i'll like it,no more tactical or smart moves, run in and blast em down..
BUT WHAT I WANT IS TO BE ABLE TO START OFF WITH ANY WEAPON,LIKE STARTING THE MATCH HOLDING A LONGSHOT OR HAMM,I REALLY WANNA SEE THIS,it's good to see epic is really busy, making the online experience better and still being able to work on GoW FoM WoW CHoW 2,an epic kudos to them!
UPDATE: Microsoft told us that the below info about Annex was true, but that the April 9 date was wrong. We've changed the headline and original story to reflect the correction.

...I feel sorry for you, If you dont want to play it, cool.
But, Its Random.
NO MOTHERF*CKING SPAWN CAMPAHS!
Amen brother, AMEN!!!
Respawning will be the shiznit! Its kinda sad when you die early and sometimes wish that your own team will loose already so you can play again. And don't act like you don't know what i'm talking about
I think this is great that there fixing al the glitches because I'm tired of being roadie run killed or not being able to pick u weopens in assanation and i can't wait to try annex to
Just get rid of the chainsaw use in multiplayer. I've been rolling away from somebody revving the chainsaw a good 15 feet away only to be sucked into it and killed! Also get rid of that annoying bug where you're running away from somebody shooting at you only to hug a wall and die!
The huge amount of bugs and unfairness to non host players ruins the multiplayer experience.
