CES 2009: Halo Wars release date now February 28, demo coming |
Ó
Here's a quick update from CES 2009, straight from Major Nelson. Halo Wars' release date is now February 28, with a demo coming this February 5.Previous reports slated the game for a release on March 3rd for North America, so this comes as a pleasant surprise. I just hope there wasn't some miscommunication somewhere.
The game marks the final release from Ensemble Studios, the guys who gave us the Age of Empires franchise. The studio will be closing down once they finish work on the game.
I hope Halo Wars does well, if only for that reason alone. I'm not an RTS fan, but I have to admit that AOE was a great franchise.

Halo Wars will be the defining game for the Ensemble legacy, I hope this game comes out sparkling!
Halo Wars FTW.
Which other games is Microsoft developing? AFAIK, most of the time they were only the publisher...
the only game I know they developed is Microsoft Flight Simulator.
They're trying to match the dates with Killzone 2. That a smart move for Microsoft.
I don't think a RTS is going to match up to a FPS?
RTS are a bit more esoteric don't you think?
FPS sell to the general public much better.
If that's what MS are doing then they're in for a rude shock people won't go oh Halo Wars RTS > Killzone2 FPS.
Age of Empires.. I will miss you. I'm not a big Halo fan (except the first one was a lot of fun campaign-wise), but I am sure this will be a great game for those who like the genre. And who knows, maybe it'll introduce more people to it!
