Capcom may have not reaped any AIAS award, but according to NPD, Capcom had hit the jackpot, thanks to Lost Planet. According to NPD's data Capcom's Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions, took the top spot for January with roughly 400,000 units sold. This isn't only good news for the Capcom folks as NPD mentions that this development paints a positive outlook for the future of original IPs on the Xbox 360.

In an industry filled with hackneyed sequels and franchises, Lost Planet's performance most likely indicates the gamers' wishes for something unique, rather than playing another sequel or something.

Apparently, the sales performance of Lost Planet were greater than other Capcom Xbox 360 original titles, such as Dead Rising - which sold under 350, 000 units in its first month on store shelves. The game carried on to sell over a million units worldwide, but Lost Planet already looks to exceed Dead Rising's total.
