Capcom Amps Dead Rising's TV Campaign

Dead Rising

Nowadays, for a great game to sell well, it should be paired with great ads and campaigns. With this in mind, Capcom has decided to expand Dead Rising's TV marketing campaign with a whopping $3 Million in additional funding. The added funds will be used for an extended TV campaign which will double the original scope of the campaign.

This move may be a little weird considering that the game has shipped more than 500, 000 copies within its first two weeks and that it is a top sales performer for the month of August. Capcom even added that the game has become "the fastest selling title for a Japanese publisher". It seems that Capcom did a really great job in selling the game.

But most likely, the well-oiled and well-funded campaign aims to maintain its sales momentum up to the coming Holidays. As they say in business, longevity and consistence spells victory for a product. The original TV campaign brought ads to networks such as Comedy Central, SpikeTV, MTV, VH1, and ESPN.

Capcom said that this extension will be very similar to the initial TV outing, again targeting the 18- to 34-year-old demographic, but would add the Fox network as another venue. Whether the gamble works or falters, well, your guesses are as good as ours.

seriously, as the many complaints on the Capcom forums and all over the internet suggest, they really need to FIX the pissing game before trying to sell it to more unsuspecting buyers.

There needs to be a website of some kind that clearly states which games should be avoided and why, Dead Rising would be well up there with its game crashes, unreadable disc error and lack of SDTV support (and yes I'm a HDTV user).

Well 3 mill in advertising is nothing considering they will make about 30 Million off the 500,000 copies sold.

Specific games dont cause crashes on the xbox. It just doesnt happen. 500,000 games all printed with the same content cant make a few hundred crash the fact the consoles were probably on the way out anyway due to any number of reasons which you can find on numerous sites but to say the game is causing consoles to crash is just retarded.

I wonder if I would be able to watch those commercials on my SDTV(regular TV) or do I really need an HDTV to be able to watch the commercials as well???

Sorry buddy - but your comment is utter crap - why does my 360 crash EVERY time I play Dead Rising - but not when I play ANY OTHER GAME. Did you get that last bit? - No other game crahses while it's being played.

I've bought two copies of DR - both crashed all over the place - at various times and situations - the disk is clean and clear. Care to explain that to me? Microsoft blame the game, Capcom blame the console. Can someone just give me a straight fricking answer? Like: why did I pay good money for s**t that doesn't work.

Before you make bold statements po0 - don't try and pass off opinion as fact, it makes you look a t**t.
