Call of Duty 2 Marketplace Content Generates $1m |
Ó

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick told a bunch of analysts that the popular content packs for the shooter Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox Live Marketplace generated about one million dollars for the company. There have been two content packs released; one that was priced at 5 bucks and the other one 10. The first one sold 105,000 times, and the second one 66,000 times. Do the math.
According to Activision this is "a critical first step in exploiting online revenue potential and extending the shelf life of our games." I say those content packs are good and all, but it separates the users if the new maps become the popular ones. And some people don't buy it because it's simply too expensive.
Although many content for almost all online games has been released, Activision is the first one to hit the one million mark. Some companies, like Bethesda, haven't released any figures (yet) though.

Perhaps now companies can see how they can generate extra revenue quite easily. Perhaps they could drop the initial price of their games. I just spent $60 for Chromehounds. If it wasnt for a gift-card I had, I dont think I would have spent that much. PGR3 at $30 looked much easier on the wallet.
off topic:
that picture was always interesting to me (the one above showing multiplayer) considering the fact that there's 4 allies and 5 axis.
could this mean the initial player limit was higher?????
If you can't see 5 axis and 4 allies clearly then look at this bigger picture

Could it be a PC screenie instead of a 360 like they claimed?
I've yet to shell out money for map packs. I'm fine the way multi is now.
i dont buy ***** from the market place.
Don't deny it, everybody buys stuff from MarketPlace.
